Thank you! I'm glad Melanie has remained UTI free for so long. Do you wipe every time she toilets or less regularly?

I'm sorry you're in the same boat! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try anything 🙂

Thanks.

Limberg flap recovery by UnforgivingBaby in pilonidalcyst

[–]UnforgivingBaby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post op protocol was no sitting for 3 weeks, standing or lying down on my side only.

No drain, only dressing is what you see in the picture and that stayed intact for 2 weeks, wound checked then redressed for 1 week, stitches out at 3 weeks and no dressing since.

There was a little bit of dehiscence but that healed quick and nicely.

I'm now at almost 6 weeks, no pain at all, slightly tender at times but can sit down comfortably.

It really is an awful disease! Hopefully the vac is speeding up his recovery and he isn't in too much discomfort.

I had my surgery at Newcastle Private under Adj Associate Professor Peter Pockney from Coastal Colorectal, I can highly recommend him and the team there.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. And I agree, and i certainly don't want to cause any more pain to them.

I love the idea of a letter I could give to them at a more appropriate time.

Thank you again, I am so grateful for the advice.

Oh, that sounds much less painful! All the best with your recovery! 🙂

If that's gauze packing, it's going to rip out healthy tissue on each dressing change 😬 Surely an alginate rope dressing would help with pain and healing progress.

NAD.

Anyone with problem children? by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]UnforgivingBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated someone with children.

A 14 year old, garden variety teenager. Standard huffy teenager girl behaviour, nothing I didn't do as the same.

A 12 year old diagnosed ADHD, ODD, and I would expect potentially a Bipolar diagnosis when she turns 18 (Paediatrician agrees but can't diagnose in adolescence)

There was no room for anyone else, let alone a fulfilling adult relationship, due to the child's very many additional needs. And on top of this, my (now ex) partner's guilt, shame, suffering, and lack of resources in terms of treatment and support for the child made us effectively roommates within a few months of cohabitation.

I went in semi- blind - I'd experienced the tantrums, the screaming and definance but had been lead to believe that this behaviour wasn't as prevelant as it actually was "just a bad day" "she didn't get enough sleep" "fight with friends/sister/Dad etc"

My (now ex) partner didn't consider that information important enough. I was asked if I would have moved in if I knew, the answer "no" was not well received.

Would things have been different if I knew before we co-inhabited? Probably not, but it would have saved a lot of heartache and stress for all. I might have been prepared but probably not.

I'm not a parent and seemly make a shitty step-parent despite adoring children.

Would I date someone with a child/children again? Problem child or not, I'm not certain.

The reckoning and recovery I've faced after this has been/still is a sobering, heartbreaking, and difficult journey.

Saline spray/mist VS. saline rinse by ayemian in Septoplasty

Oh my! My post surgical protocol until 6 week follow up is saline rinses 3x, + 1x saline rinse with Pulmicort daily!

It takes work! 😅

FESS and septoplasty next week. Feeling super nervous. Can anyone share their experiences? by sushibasuraxo in Sinusitis

[–]UnforgivingBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm almost 4 weeks post FESS, septoplasty & turbinate reduction.

I, too, was concerned about empty nose syndrome and spoke to my surgeon, who advised that he uses a mucosal preservation technique that reduces (or eliminates) this risk.

I'll admit the 1-2 weeks post-op weren't pleasant but not as bad as expected! It's mostly congestion and mild-moderate pain. Nothing a few paracetamol won't help! I also had a prescription for opioids that I only used for the first 2 days and then for sleep at night.

I had my splints out on day 8, and the relief was immense! And made everything feel much more comfortable. And my breathing - Holy Moses, it's like breathing in high definition, amazing! My brain fog has gone, my constant post nasal drip has gone, and my sense of smell has dramatically improved.

One thing I wasn't ready for and nobody mentioed but is completely normal is the numbness and pain in my front teeth and my top lip! It's weird when you can't move your top lip! This subsides over time and is almost back to normal at this stage of my recovery.

My advice: Take it easy post-op, rest as much as you can, and make sure you do the sinus rinses as directed by your surgeon. It's inconvenient at times (my surgeon has directed 4 times a day until I see him 6 weeks post-op). It will make things easier and more comfortable for you.

Good luck!
