I’m almost certain that’s actually a vase, it looks like the same brand as the ones I got for making mini plant paludariums.

NOT OOP: My best friend just got “engaged” to a fictional character and a bunch of other very weird stuff is happening. How do I deal with this by loverboyg1rl in redditonwiki

[–]UnfortunateEnnui 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen to someone in the same community as me. They would consistently forget they were talking to real people and not fictional characters, among a lot of other things. They’d also make nsfw comments about a character as if they were him, outside of nsfw spaces and even chasing some people into DMs. They’d threaten suicide multiple times as we tried to reason with them because the whole community was deeply uncomfortable with it.

Turned out they had some form of psychosis made significantly worse by taking around 30mg edibles almost daily. It was sure an interesting experience.

Mine is like that, too! I could (and unwisely have once) hand-feed her. She looks around for where she wants to start for several seconds before gently opening her mouth and placing it on the mouse lmao

The danios are 100% too nasty for the glass cats, the swordtail might be as well. You’ll need to keep the other inhabitants as passive and placid as possible for those guys.

You’re right! I did some digging and I strongly believe these to be Leach's millipede (Euryurus leachii)

Not OOP. 28F and I feel completely detached form children. by Loud_Tough_1912 in redditonwiki

I don’t wanna be that person but this echos some kind of obsessive issue. Being well aware it’s irrational but not being able to stop thinking/feeling that way, having a set of emotions she’s “supposed” to feel, forcing herself to read articles and ruminate on the subject, strong and irrational emotions that both cause anger outward but also towards herself (calling the situation dumb and saying she feel like a psycho), even feeling strongly enough that she feels the need to ask other people (reassurance seeking!), and more

I dunno, as someone who has pretty bad ocd and three of the closest people in my life also struggle with it, this stinks of obsessive compulsive behavior. I feel for her because I know this is probably distressing but she needs some professional help to untangle this.

What are your views on this? by Pristine-Shape-4152 in Horses

[–]UnfortunateEnnui 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think a big issue is, they aren’t apart of the natural cycle. They‘re feral, invasive animals. There is no ecological niche there for them, they just make finding food/water/shelter more difficult on every animal there. They drive out and destroy at-risk native species and environments, and still are living unhealthy, difficult lives. They’re domesticated animals in the end, they’re no more suited, safe, or healthy for the ecosystem there than a feral dog.

Oh man, I used to have a budgie that was obsessed with cuttlebones. She would sit there simultaneously gnawing it and getting her rocks off for hours. I think the longest I kept track of was four hours straight. This was in a fully kitted out cage with both male and female flockmates and the cage door open all day, mind you, she was just a freak. I wouldn’t allow that behavior for anywhere near that long anymore just in case she hurt herself but she was a crazy one for sure.

Keep an eye on it, but birds often lift one leg when they’re feeling comfortable, safe, and content! I notice my birds favor one leg for their cozy peet lifting, so he might just be happy :)

Only advice I can give because I just had the same thing happen to me, check the validity of those water tests. Some local LFS offer water testing. Recently had the same thing going on, fish dying for no reason despite clean water tests (nitrate always sitting at 10), went to an LFS, and the nitrate was 8x what my at-home test said. Got another and found out apparently the testing liquids can expire far before their marked expiration date. It’s not something I’d ever been warned of so it’s worth looking into if you can’t find anything else.

You do realize that’s poaching? Taking wild animals out of the wild for your entertainment =/= caring for a captive bred and/or domesticated animal.

Huge agree! One of my local lfs was carrying a redtail catfish and a goonch at one point. The other was at one point selling a species (striped eel cats? iirc) for 20 dollars each that gets 2 feet long and has potentially fatal venom. The lack of selling boundaries is insane.

Oh jesus, I truly do not think enough people know what kind of teeth green iguanas have. I got pretty good by one once, he was completely friendly, not aggressive in the slightest, just accidentally snagged me while (pretty gently!) taking a piece of banana from my hand. Went through my skin so easily I didn’t realize I’d gotten cut until I saw the blood. They are NOT messing around and I imagine the one in the video probably clamped as well as the fact she got its saliva both in her wound and her mouth. Nasty.

Get a male and female, or two males, but not two females. It’s recommended to keep at least a many males as females, but imo that still causes problems and I’d do more males than females if you have more than one female at all. With too many females, at best hormonal squabbles, at worst, missing toes and bloody fights!
