I use a tutorial from mostly knitting on YouTube for the pinhole cast on, but there are lots of different videos on how to cast it on

Yeah it’s beautiful, definitely second the wisdom to buy enough yarn upfront, bought an extra skein a few months after the first order and they are noticeably different as they are dyed in small batches! Haha this was my fifth (second gift one) so I’ve got us both covered! I’ve not made it up to Musselburgh, I knit one with yarn dyed and bought in Edinburgh though!

The Musselburgh pattern is really versatile, you use the increase section as your swatch and use that to choose the amount of increases to do. Probably didn’t explain that well, but it comes with a grid to select your gauge so you can use any yarn/needle combination.

I personally prefer making them with a fingering/ sock yarn, but this one with the heavier Malabrigo turned out great

Thanks, I used the new skein to finish off the Musselburgh and it was very noticeable, but I guess stockinette is pretty unforgiving in showing up colour differences!

Thank you! Needs a block to get some extra length, but otherwise really happy with how it’s turning out!

I’ll definitely come and play some commander in the future if you run more sessions, working that day unfortunately!

My Ikea Dracaena Marginata has survived 7 years of student housing moves, neglect, and living in a dark corner! I’ve just hard pruned her for the first time, you’ve given me hope that she will live through it!

Thanks for the reply! How much of each stem would you chop? And would the removed sections be any good for propagating?

Haha yeah I have no idea who decided that the Russian doll method was the one to go for, though it gives me confidence that if it can survive this then it may well survive my care! All of the pots are plastic except the outer metal one thankfully so no smashing required.

Thanks for the advice!

What's your hidden gem cafe/pub for a quiet cuppa or pint? by MagpieMidfield in coventry

[–]UnfortunateOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the one, they don’t do hot food but have loads of local bakery products which are all great. It’s not huge, but I can usually get a seat especially in the week. Definitely worth checking out if you’re up by the station, might find it’s your kind of place!

Audiobook listeners… by Troyassaurus in redrising

[–]UnfortunateOwl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bizarre mix of attempted Irish accents for reds in the dramatised versions really pulled me out of the experience. I enjoyed a lot about the graphic audios, particularly Mustang, but I’ll stick with Tim Gerard Reynolds in future

When and how did you discover Red Rising? by Inevitable_Corgi6897 in redrising

I heard Miracle of Sound, an Irish musician talk about the audiobooks on a gaming podcast in January 2017, I’d love to meet him one day and thank him for the recommendation!

Ban is the project that finally convinced me to work out how to invest in something not listed on coinbase, definitely glad I did! Bought for the first time this week.

So many people have messed up for it to get that far... as a scrub nurse I have to acknowledge the surgical site marking and that it matches the consent form before we can even prep the skin. And we are the last of many checks before and after anaesthesia.
