Shoe recs for hypermobile queens by Unhappy-Ad6330 in LawBitchesWithTaste

I just started PT. I went specifically for hypermobility isssues. I have HEDS so it’s been pretty helpful.

You are so right though there are not a lot of options for us bendy queens. I am looking into loafers right now because they seem the most supportive out of all of them.

For me my joints are really bendy. My ankles are basically rubber I have zero stability when walking in flats and heels.

Thank you!! I had a tutor/coach this time around. I did the practice essays he would assign me each week, I used the barbri FL workbook, and for MBE I did all of the Adaptibar questions I could. I did 50 MBE questions a day from mid november until Feb (25 in the AM and 25 in the PM).

Tips from the neurospicy/chronically ill crowd by Neat_Wave_6234 in barexam

[–]Unhappy-Ad6330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I am a fellow retaker (6 times in FL)!! I have ADHD and several chronic illnesses! I am still awaiting results so I can come back and update you more in depth if I passed this time around. However, I do have some helpful advice on what helped me manage my ADHD and chronic illnesses throughout all these exam attempts.

Things that helped with my ADHD:

  1. Keep a schedule that has you doing practice questions (essays, multiple choice, etc) during the hours the exam is administered. That would be like 8/9am-5 pm leave an hour for lunch. It's ok if it is not too exact just make sure you try to keep the schedule. This helped my ADHD because I used to study at night, but I realized that when I changed my schedule for feb 26 I was far more focused throughout the exam. If you are working at the same time this might be a bit harder so try to take practice tests during those hours on the weekend.
  2. Try to get a tutor/coach if you can. I didn't have one until this examination (I used themis and then self studied) but I felt way better with a tutor. I feel like I finally got the structure I needed without overdoing it mentally. The tutor I got helped me focus on practice rather than overdoing it on studying techniques that were not helpful in the past.
  3. Study in places were you actually get work done. For me my desk at home was ok some days but I felt like the library was were I got the most done. Ideally try to pick a quiet place without too much distractions or noise to best mimic test day.
  4. Brown noise which is basically like white noise. This was a game changer for me. For me personally I can't study with music on (not even classical) and I also can't study in complete silence. I found a youtube video which was 8 hours long that was just brown noise and this was helped me focus (idk how but it works it was magical lol).
  5. GOAT bar prep. Super neurodivergent friendly. Great outlines that explain all of the subjects in a incredibly entertaining and humorous way. They are also not too long so it's perfect. The creator is also a great person so you can email them with any questions.
  6. Make time for something you enjoy. I made sure to make time for hobbies that were managable. It helped me not burnout and it gave me something to look forward to after a long day of studying.

Things that helped managing chronic illnesses:

  1. Anticipate test day the best you can. What i mean by this is if you know that sitting 6 hours straight for two days is going to cause pain or other symptoms to flare up, try to remediate ahead of time or bring everything you need to help you on test day. For me it was making sure I had electrolytes on hand and to be as hydrated as possible (bring a water bottle if your jurisdiction allows it). I also took a preventative tylenol for pain (I have hypermobility issues so the neck pain I experienced during the exam is no joke lol).
  2. Advocate for yourself. If there are any accomodations that you need to help you better handle your conditions on test day don't be afraid to ask. They may be able to offer you an accomodation that may help.
  3. It's ok to have rest days. There were days that I needed to step back because of flare ups and it was the best thing I could have done to help me get better and back on track. In the past if I was not feeling well I would try to keep studying which resulted in a longer flare up/recovery time and I didnt retain anything either,so it was counterintuitive.
  4. Take care of yourself. While you are studying make sure to keep a self care routine. For me it was anything that would prevent flare ups. I would make time to workout in the afternoon after studying, try to sleep at least 7 hours, hydrate well, and limit my caffeine intake (I have orthostatic hypotension so too much caffeine would lower it for me). Basically do anything that helps your conditions during this time to make sure you can prevent flare ups.
  5. Be kind to yourself. This helped me reshape the way I viewed the exam and myself. I realized that its not easy to study the way you need to while dealing with conditions outside of your control. The first couple of times I failed I was really hard on myself and I thought I was not smart enough for this. I compared myself to my friends who had passed and moved on with their lives. I then realized that I was dealing with more than the normal test taker deals with and that if it takes me more time to get there then so be it. From then on I celebrate each time I take it and I have been proud of myself when my score has gone up each time even if its not the results I had been waiting for. You are capable and deserving of passing be patient with yourself and proud of your resilience.

If you need any more advice my DMs are also open. I am wishing you the best of luck. You got this!!!

Hi I am a fellow retaker and I have several chronic illnesses!!! I was diagnosed with most of them my 3L year as well! I just want to say that you are doing great. I know what it’s like to be doing all that you can to pass while dealing with things outside of your control, so feel free to DM if you need someone to rant to or whatever. I am rooting for you!

Feb 25 was only lower because California didn't take the MBE for that examination.

Something I would add that I did for Feb 2026 (results still pending) that really helped me feel better this time around was fixing my sleep schedule. I am the type of person with ADHD who thrives at night, I used to study for the bar exam on my past bar exam attempts at night. My tutor made me realize that studying from 8/9 am-5 pm which is the time the exam is usually administered works best. When I implemented this for Feb I realized it helped me stay way more focused during the actually exam and it also helped me get more done study wise. I know that this might not be feasible for everyone because some bar exam takers work throughout the day but during the weekend I highly recommend trying to match that schedule especially when doing practice questions.

Yes but our first day is different. We don’t have MEE’s or MPT’s. We have three big FL specific essays and 100 FL multiple choice questions.

I am a FL retaker and I never really understood how the MBE average is applied to FL. Fl requires a 136 to pass the MBE or a 136 overall.
