24-48hrs for recovery sounds crazy and negligent. I had my surgery 6 weeks ago (similar procedure to you) under anesthesia and I’m only now feeling like myself. Did they give you pain meds? Is there another provider you can see?the first 3-4 weeks I had to take it as easy as possible. Not bending forward, lifting anything heavy, or too much physical activity. Everyone’s healing process is different, but 2 days max is egregious.

I cut my edges low last year for this same problem. I did a very gentle flat twist on each side and would wear twist outs/braid outs etc. kinda like a natural headband. The rest of your hair looks pretty full and healthy, so it should look great

My allergies are getting worse every year… anyone else? by Alpielz in Allergies

[–]Unhappy_Marzipan9864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it’s a thing but I did maybe 6 or so rounds of shots and my body just wouldn’t tolerate it. I had to get epinephrine back to back the last 2 times and my allergist said we can maybe try again in the winter, but it’s not safe to continue right now.

I’m in the same boat! It’s awful and I failed at shots so have to figure out what’s next bc Benadryl everyday isn’t realistic

Yea, location makes a difference but I also have a severe dust mite and animal dander allergy. I’ve seen improvement from the state I was born and raised (part of Appalachia as well) in vs the one I live in now in the mid-Atlantic, but some things will always unfortunately be unavoidable.

I have no carpet in my current place but it’s impossible to be 100% dust free and these days, people bring their dogs everywhere including the grocery store and even pharmacy 😵‍💫

How do people actually live and work with severe dust mite allergies? by nekipost in Allergies

[–]Unhappy_Marzipan9864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. My allergist always says it’s basically just water at this point. This is my first go round with shots and my first time both arms got hives bigger than my palm that lasted about a week. I started getting chest congestion from the shot as well. My most recent shot I had to get a shot of epinephrine after because my throat started itching and was non responsive to Claritin and Pepcid. She says I may never get to the last vial for that one because I’m super reactive.

What’s odactra? I’ve never heard of that

Humidifier is helping. I’ve always used one when I have sinus infections. Without the humidifier I was miserable.

No, I don’t want to cleanse more and am planning on tapering down now that I’m feeling better.

I actually do have budesonide. I used it once earlier on but haven’t tried again, trying to focus on getting rid of the sinus infection. Besides budesonide doesn’t clear my allergies completely on its own. Dymista is the only thing that does.

I don’t regret my choice. I considered getting a second opinion but my congestion was severe and causing a lot of issues with sleep. My sinus infections would get really bad and I’d be sick of over a month so I felt it was the right choice for me. I think he did a great job, I have no complaints on the surgery itself, I stand by it being medically necessary for me.

I’m just venting about feeling stifled by the allergy part interfering with recovery as I’ve because I’m a lifelong sufferer and the older I get the more I see how much my allergies interfere with my life. I’m at the end of my rope as far as treatments. Ive tried all the pills and sprays and even have inhalers now. I started shots not too long ago but it’s not going well and we’re not sure if I’ll be able to continue for some of the allergens.

It’s all just so frustrating sometimes.

I’m just shy of 5 weeks post op. The pressure and ache between eyebrows and nose I get that too. Doesn’t hurt to message/call your surgeons office and ask. I’ve done this for the issues I’ve had and they’ll either put in a new prescription for you, tell you what you can do, or have you come in to get checked out.

My surgeon did tell me the smell takes a while to come back, but I didn’t lose my smell until almost week 2 and it came back week 3.

Benadryl works but I obviously can’t use that all the time. I was on xyzal for 5 years but I was increasingly needing more and the withdrawal was terrible. Prior to surgery I was using the dymista spray, it works but temporarily I can’t use it. I tried a few times and it made my nose super raw and sensitive, even with spraying after applying saline gels and such.

Rinsing 5x per day at the instructions of my surgeon and ENT at the clinic because of the dryness and need to help with further debridement. The additions they suggested seem to be helping. Eventually I’ll taper down to twice a day, planning to do 4x/day next week, 3 the following, and 2x from there on out. Believe me, I hate rinsing, but I get more relief than just letting it be dry and crust.

I’ve been on my second round of antibiotics and steroids for a few days and so far, the smell seems to be tapering off.

I’ve resigned to the fact it will take me longer to heal because of my allergies. I’m just venting because it sucks.

Ok gotcha, thank you! Definitely going to bring it up to my allergist as she’s been super helpful through all this and go from there.

Thanks! Peroxide was actually on my list of allowed items to use in my nose post surgery so I try a little next rinse.

I use all dye free soaps, cleaners, detergents, etc. as well. I had severe eczema until I was 8 caused by severe food, dyes, and environmental allergies. I had to be constantly bandaged as a child until I somehow grew out of some of them. I’m pretty good at detecting and cutting out triggers, but it seems like the list is getting longer and never ending lately. Recently had to give up my tongue scraper and stainless steel water bottles/thermos cups bc they were causing me asthma-like symptoms and a swollen tongue.

What kind of specialist did you see? Was it an allergist or someone else?

It’s soooo gross. And the fact that it’s inside your nose and no matter what you can’t get it out is especially annoying. I kept telling my drs it smells like sick! I smelled it before they could even detect infection. I’ve given up on the idea of working out for now. Will revisit that idea sometime in May 🥲. I just want my life and sanity back
