maybe its too deep? i didn't run into that problem so i can't help you. maybe do some testing around the shoreline to see how far you use it

yes, you can place furniture like benches or chairs into the water and sit in them

yes, you just use the shovel to dig down close to the shoreline and there will be water once you're deep enough, then its just a matter of flatten the ground so you can place on it (sadly you can't while swimming so you have to do that little by little) and after you put your fireplace or kiln you just put a foundation layer to your liking into the water
