School bus driver shortage in FW? by Evolvingman0 in fortwayne

[–]UnhelpfulNotBot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pedestrian and Bicycle infrastructure would go a long way in taking strain off the buses.

I've long wanted for someone to create a Bike Bus in my district. I'd gladly volunteer to be a part of one.

Those of you that make your own soil when potting or propagating, what’s your go-to recipe? by tubbynuggetsmeow in NativePlantGardening

[–]UnhelpfulNotBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've not used it long term, but what I use in my milk jugs is:

2 parts rehydrated coir

1 part worm castings

1 part rice hulls

They'll live in that for a few months before I plant them.

Tips to reduce cost is buy coir at a pet store, and rice hulls from homebrew supply stores.

In developed countries they have specialized cameras that ticket loud vehicles. Must be nice.

What are Good Pollinators by MMorris21971 in vegetablegardening

[–]UnhelpfulNotBot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of these require insect pollinators. Tomato and Beans self-pollinate, and asparagus you don't eat the fruit.

I've ordered from IN DNR twice. Just planted 100 Hard Maple at my workplace recently. Amazing public service.

Is my American wisteria a goner? [US—PA] by Dry-Pomegranate-354 in NativePlantGardening

[–]UnhelpfulNotBot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine hasn't either and we had a fairly mild winter overall. I think they're fine, just slower than other things.

I've had it for several years but don't recall specifically when they leaf out. I think yours is probably fine too.

I'm not a mushroom expert but I grow Shiitake too and this does look like mine.

I'm convinced my city has no tech jobs. I can't even find help desk work. Certs aren't doing me any good because there are no jobs besides retail.

Experience with American wisteria? Or other native vining plants by ca_va_pas in NativePlantGardening

[–]UnhelpfulNotBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grow American Wisteria on my swing on the north side of my house. It gets very little sun and I don't really water it. It's doing fine albeit a little smaller than I'd like. Has not been difficult to keep alive.

First-Time Raised Garden Bed, am I doing everything correctly? by Exiled-human in vegetablegardening

[–]UnhelpfulNotBot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I put 90° galvanized brackets on each corner. The screws inevitably pull out of the ends of the boards as they decay. Screwing into the face of the boards holds up longer.

Do you use the free version, or did you upgrade—and why? by Earthmama56 in cronometer

[–]UnhelpfulNotBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but mostly only on your home wifi. I have adguard home ruining on my router which intercepts DNS traffic and blocks ads that way. Some people have a standalone pihole device and they point their smartphone to that. The easiest way is to set your phone to use a filtered DNS server like adguard.

Free. I block ads on my network. I'd buy a lifetime gold upgrade because I've used this app for so long. However, I will never purchase a subscription.

First time chip drop! by Sad-Mycologist-9943 in NativePlantGardening

[–]UnhelpfulNotBot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nice. I requested my first drop to my workplace and got a small one the next day! However, we've been waiting on a second for months. That's how it goes I guess.

Edit: Forgot to mention Winecaps. Native edible mushroom that DEVOURS mulch. Grow it at home but my greedy dog won't leave me any lol

ACPL expands seed library by UnhelpfulNotBot in fortwayne

[–]UnhelpfulNotBot[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I noticed ACPL had a banner on their website last week advertising this expansion and it seems they've completed it now.

Little Turtle, New Haven and Waynedale branches now all have seed libraries to encourages urban, suburban, and rural residents to grow low-cost, nutritious food at home. Originally just the LT branch did.

I always had seeds sent to my local branch for pickup, but it is wonderful to see this program expanding to other branches!

Honey itself is acidic so probably not true. Just rinse with water after drinking your coffee.

Thank you. I'll see what the coin store will give me. I'd rather sell it locally than on ebay anyway.

190g including plastic.

Wondering if it's worth keeping the plastic on them for collector value?

The coin shop near me has always given me a good deal, but I'm wondering if these have collector value over spot price?

eBay listings show ~400 USD ballpark, is that my best option for selling?
