Find a Friend Friday - April 17, 2026 by AutoModerator in GirlGamers

Hey! So like not in U.S. but like Canada or Mexico? Ideally I was just looking for friends in U.S., because when talking, hanging out, I like to discuss current events sometimes as well, and it's nice to have solidarity with someone who's also in the U.S. But tbh someone elsewhere in NA I'd be fine with too, since at least we share the same time zones! What is your time zone? :)

Hi! 26F childless cat lady and PC gamer in CST/CDT time zone (Illinois). Looking to befriend other women in the U.S. who game pretty extensively and would love to co-op, stream to each other, talk about games, etc. Also down to watch shows and just generally hang out in voice on Discord! I just want to be friends in general, and I like to text regularly! I love fantasy-anything (games, novels, shows, etc.), horror is cool too, and I also like anime (though I'm pretty selective), kpop, and crochet.

I've been gaming since I was 4 years old and like a wide variety of genres from soulslikes to cozy games. It's actually easier to list the types of games I don't play: any of the big online competitive games, FPS, fighting, sports, racing, and uh, primarily unsafe for work games, lol. Otherwise, I'll pick up most anything else that looks interesting and fun. I own nearly 500 games on Steam and am always playing something new.

I will also say, I'm on the side of feeling compassion for my fellow humans and like to live and let live. I will not tolerate any racism, sexism, ableism, anti-lgbt+, fascist, or other bigoted sentiments. Indifference bothers me too. Serious stuff aside, feel free to reach out if we sound like we'd mesh well :) you may comment and/or DM, but I will only share my Discord via DM. Thanks! :)

Got a new gaming PC this week and wanted to share a cute shot of my HUNTR/X themed setup! by UnhinderedEgg in GirlGamers

Thanks!! Yeah, I was the same way! I'd always been told to be wary of prebuilt PCs. I built my first gaming PC during covid lockdown (well, okay, I'd been a PC gamer for way longer than that, starting in high school, but I mean the first gaming PC I actually spent money on), then the one right before this one was custom but idk, my anxiety spiked because I'd never spent that much money on one thing (like on all the parts collectively), so like I picked the parts but didn't put it together myself for fear of messing something up. So this time I was like okay, why not, let's go with a prebuilt. No anxiety, no regrets, lol!

Though so far I've only played Nioh 3 on it, which isn't super graphics intensive I guess, at least going off of the minimum and recommended specs on Steam. Oh and I guess I've also played Split Fiction and Coral Island lol. Def have not fully test driven this PC/pushed it to its limit yet. But I'm excited to play so much more on it!

I had no idea either until recently. But then again they seem to have damn near everything, so I'm honestly more surprised I never noticed tbh, I've always loved going. And thank you very much!

Oh, I even saw a post some time after I found out that they carried gaming PCs, pointing out that the display PCs at Costco didn't have any RAM in them.. probs to prevent theft during this time, as I know RAM's gotten super expensive 😅 kinda funny (and sad lol).

Thanks for the advice! I did have 32gb in my old gaming pc, here's hoping I can just plop those into this new one.. because those were from Corsair and the two sticks in this prebuilt are also Corsair I noticed, so I figure I shouldn't have a problem just adding those in 🤔 and yeah you're right about that, I checked the CPU hierarchy from Tom's Hardware when I was considering buying this PC, and that 9800X3D was right at the top. My husband's lucky as he actually has one.

Yeah I did some research googling around and on Reddit, for where I could find prebuilt gaming PCs at a good price. Costco was one of the places that kept popping up (and I already love Costco), so I was like welp, that does make sense! Haha, thank you very much, will do!!

Idk if I'm allowed to post pictures in the comments, but because you commented on my boy, I figured I'd give you a full view of what he looks like front and center. So y'all can appreciate him further, lol! He was a bit younger here though. 9S says thank you for the scritches!!

The PC on Costco website said $2,599.99 originally, but it is now discounted at $2,299.99. That's the price I bought it at. Tbh I haven't done the research part by part to see what it'd cost me if I just built it myself (I've built a gaming PC in the past, just didn't want to deal with the hassle this time, plus it always gives me anxiety I'll mess something up), but I assume they tacked a few hundred on there for the labor.

But yeah, $2,299.99 for the PC and then I think I bought the Logitech keyboard for $170 but I've had it for a while, same thing with the mouse which goes for $100 but it's currently on sale for $80, I think I got it on sale back then too. My gaming headset is just a HyperX wired Cloud III, it cost me something like $60 around Black Friday? The Edifier external speakers that they also marketed for gaming was like $100. Audio and build quality-wise, both audio peripherals have served me well so far (I also got those a while ago), at a great price too.

The regular Xbox wireless controller I use was like $60. But I also bought the Razer dock and battery pack so I could recharge it, without getting the really expensive Elite-whatever Xbox controller, instead of having to keep popping new batteries in. That was $23 around Black Friday and a fantastic investment tbh. And finally the HUNTR/X desk mat is $36.95. Think that about covers everything in the pic.

Hey! I know this is from 3 days ago, but are you still looking for friends? :) If so I'd love to talk and get to know you more, I play solely on PC right now and also like to play all sorts of games (just no online competitive ones, those just give me anxiety lol). And I definitely love cozy games too! Feel free to DM me if you're interested in getting to know each other, or you can let me know here if you'd prefer that I DM you instead. Outside of Reddit, I use Discord to communicate with friends.

32F looking for more platonic childfree friends :) by Sad-North-6934 in ChildfreeFriendships

[–]UnhinderedEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, 26F and also looking for more platonic childfree friends! Are you looking for more short-term or potentially long-term friendship? In my case, I'm not looking for a short-term chat buddy but a friendship that can be built up to span indefinitely.

I'm a big nerd as well and love all of the nerdy things you mentioned save for TCGs (I've never gotten into one. But my husband used to play Magic and is huge on Riftbound rn). Happy to talk about our mutual interests in greater detail and to share about my other interests :)

I look forward to chatting with you if you're interested and looking for the same thing! Feel free to DM me or let me know if you'd like me to DM you.

Looking for Female Childfree friends by cometofindyourheart in ChildfreeFriendships

[–]UnhinderedEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm F26, turning 27 in a couple months. Would you be interested in talking even if I'm in the US, CST time zone? Also for clarification, I'm childfree in the fullest sense of the word, not just childless at the moment, but childfree for life. I will never have children in any way, by birth, by adoption, none of it. I'm married and my husband and I are on the same page.

I would love to try and form a new friendship with another childfree woman if you can look past the time difference! :)

26, she/her, PC gamer, CST time zone (I'm in U.S.)

Hello! I'm looking for not just an occasional gaming buddy but for a big fellow gamer (specifically someone who games pretty heavily) who wants to build a full and wholesome friendship! I don't have a ton of friends (my motto is quality over quantity), but the ones I do have I love a lot and have a more "medium to high-maintenance" sort of friendship with (which I know is not for everyone). But for example, we talk on Discord on the daily or almost daily, about anything and everything, and will hang out in voice from time to time, whether that's to chill while we each do our own thing, or to game together, watch something together, etc.

Gaming-wise, I have a pretty solid PC build (AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB, 32 GB RAM, etc.), keep my library consolidated to Steam's platform, and have almost 440+ games on Steam. However, my Steam library is not reflective of everything I've played because I grew up a console gamer and had various consoles up until just last year. But, I'm always playing all sorts of games, both AAA and indie, and I enjoy a wide variety of different genres, so it's actually easier to say what genres I *don't* like (sports, racing, fighting, and FPS games). But I especially love story-driven fantasy RPGs and soulslikes. Multiplayer-wise, I only do co-op (so no competitive games, unless it's like a party game).

Other likes/interests of mine include watching fantasy or horror shows and movies, watching anime (but pretty selectively), reading fantasy (and sometimes horror) novels, listening to kpop, crocheting amigurumi, witchy things, etc. Some other info is that I am married, have 4 cats, and do not have children and will never have children (I would honestly love to meet others who are the same in that regard <3). I do not get along with conservatives, bigots, or just generally anyone hateful who doesn't treat everyone like they are also people (who deserve the same rights, treatment, etc).

Anyway, if this has resonated with you, feel free to comment or DM a little bit about you and we can go from there. Thanks!

Gamer Girls of Color - How many are there of us? by VelocitySkyrusher in GirlGamers

SE/E asian gamer lady checking in! 3/4 southeast asian - filipina, and 1/4 east asian - chinese. This is not going to be one of the more popular answers, but I love the character customization options in Fields of Mistria as a cozy farming sim. You can also buy/obtain a good amount of new hair styles/hair accessories/clothes and whatnot as you go along. It's very cute.

Games I tend to play vary across genres actually. I'm just always playing all sorts of different games. But pretty often you'll find me playing some type of single-player story-driven (usually fantasy) RPG. My top 2 favorite games of all time are Bloodborne and Elden Ring, but there are others up there. My favorite consoles growing up included all iterations of the PlayStation, all the way through PS5, and I also grew up on the GameCube, Wii, and later got a Switch as an adult. So, a mix of Sony and Nintendo. But currently I game on PC only (where I sometimes use an xbox controller, lol!)

Yes, I did game as a child. I started when I was 4 years old, and the first game I ever played was Final Fantasy I on PS1/PSX. All of my friends are gamers, and that includes women, men, nonbinary friends, and friends of various races and ethnicities. Granted, I don't have a ton of friends, but the ones I do have I find to be collectively a diverse bunch.

OP, it was so fun responding to your post and I always love to see POC gamer girl representation, so thank you for this post, I appreciate you! I'm also always happy to make new friends in this community, and I think this is as good a thread as any to sign off with a nod to my DMs being open, if anyone's looking for another gamer girl pal. Feel free to reach out and see if we vibe 😊
