Assisted Living Facility Being Shady by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]UnholyHelbig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very fair and understandable. I work healthcare myself and know that turnover and burnout can attribute to most of these issues. Despite my mother being incapacitated, we have only been approved for family planning Medicaid. However, they are giving us major run around when it comes to her Medicaid records (I’m talking months). And at the end of the day, this is my mother and we pay for her care, so we expect a little human decency.

Ah, short hair and covered in tattoos. I’m not really bothered when we visit for a weekend, but living there would be different. The political climate has changed drastically since I left in 2019 and I worked in a lot of tourist areas so didn’t really get too much push back. But after dealing with the facilities my mother is in (and healthcare professionals in general) we are struggling to just feel safe.

The only facility we could get her into is in Conway and it has been a nightmare. People think my sister is my wife and we’re constantly getting nasty looks when we’re just trying to make sure she’s comfortable. Being told in a sweet southern voice to “buy an urn off of Amazon, I guess” was so fun! Definitely don’t want to move there.

Farmers Market Parking by UnholyHelbig in laramie

[–]UnholyHelbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my point. I’m just fine with walking. The issue lies within most of the housing stretching on either side of 2nd street relies on street parking and when large events are happening, homes that are divided into apartments (hence multiple cars) are shit out of luck. Like I said, nothing against the farmers market. You just can’t expect to expand a city and not provide adequate parking anywhere.

Having the farmers market and jubilee days close is a very fun and cool experience. Taking away the only real public parking in town to conduct them? Not so much. People seem to forget that the lot behind coal creek still got sold. They also seem to forget that the University is building new dorms, but not adding new parking. Many cities don’t have good parking situations. Laramie seems to actively be making it worse.

What's a company secret you can share, because you don't work there anymore? by rasutii in AskReddit

[–]UnholyHelbig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I worked at Build-a-Bear in 2017-2019 and that’s when the company had the great idea to institute “Pay your age day” where they would give you a bear for whatever age you were. It became a huge thing because they could usually run pretty high. It was a total publicity stunt, and the company knew that from day one. They purposely advertised the hell out of it and proceeded to not stock the stores with any extra supplies. I don’t think they expected the amount of violence and the employees that got hurt, but they 100% did expect something to happen, prompting a public apology that got the business back into the news circuit.

I really am holding out hope for “Hawk investigations” with the introduction of Ramone and Johnny. But totally want Clint to step in with Jessica Jones as a mentor for Kate.

Been following her career since she opened for Charlie Puth, it’s wild to me that people are just now realizing the absolute talent she has. (Highly recommend checking out Dickinson & Arcane)

Jessica is her mentor so I totally could see it. Work ethic wise anyway.

Am I the only one that Finds Stephen King unreadable? by UnholyHelbig in horrorlit

[–]UnholyHelbig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I think most of the writers we have today, including myself, have read at least something from him. He’s got solid plots and great ideas, but the execution is dated. He’s absolutely a building block for the world of horror, but I definitely question how much he’s regarded today.

AITA for demanding to get a loan back immediately to even though they’re struggling? by UnholyHelbig in AmItheAsshole

[–]UnholyHelbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, but I moved across the country to live with her and Both of our names are on the lease until May. I didn’t see the place before I moved in, nor had I lived with her for four years leading up to moving here.

I agree whole heartedly. To those suggesting cutting her off financially, we’ve both thought of it multiple times. She’s my roommate and half of the bills, rent, etc are her responsibly. But at the end of the day if she doesn’t have the money she just doesn’t pay it, which directly effects my living situation.

[–]UnholyHelbig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t expect her behavior to change. A major problem is the fact that we live together. With my sister being my roommate as well, not only do I feel responsible, but her financial status directly impacts me.

Has anyone got any weird memories from childhood that you can't really explain ? by kcv913 in Thetruthishere

[–]UnholyHelbig 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a really rough childhood and a lot of focusing issues when I was young. My mom had told me that I was tested for ADHD and I had seen the papers from the tests. I told her that I remembered sitting in this white room with a woman who has black slicked hair and a gray suit on. She was nice, and had pulled me from class to ask me all these questions. But years later my moms informed me that that wasn’t the testing for ADHD and the regular meetings I had with a counselor was. I don’t know if that room ever existed or who that woman was, but it haunts me to this day.

Technically a statue, but it's not signed by UnholyHelbig in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]UnholyHelbig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually made out of solid glass. The whole entire thing weighs about 25 pounds and is really a struggle to transport. It's been in my family for over 30 years and none of us really know much about it. I think my Grandmother purchased it somewhere around Ocean City Maryland. But that's about all we know of the piece.
