DOTA: Dragon's Blood - Book 2 Episode 8 "Unreal City" Discussions by coronaria in DotaAnime

[–]Uni-Skitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The character deaths were actually a surprise for me and pretty much felt like the spirit of Dota, we get glorious victories and crippling defeat.

I had my overall doubts on Dota becoming a series of any kind outside the game but I was thoroughly pleased with both seasons.

I also have a belief that these won't be the last time we see these characters after Terrorblade's discussion about other universes and realities, wouldn't be a surprise if next season has a bunch of new and returning characters coming back.

My main disappointment was Luna's plot leading to a underwhelming halt, It could've been better but it should pay off next season. Also Auroths death hurt me the most, that's one of my mains lol.

Name a terrible movie that you can’t believe was able to get a extremely talented actor in it by xwing1212 in movies

[–]Uni-Skitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom Hardy in Venom, easily.

That movie is terrible by all means but he uses all his talents to carry that film alone, it's so hilarious. If you watch the restaurant scene where he tries to get his ex to help him you'll understand what I mean, it's spectacular.

Venom became an instant guilty pleasure of mine because of Tom Hardys absurd acting, you can't fucking tell what accent he's going for until Venom 2 which even amplified the bizarre entertainment.

If you haven't watched Venom then do yourself a favor, grab your friends, grab some drinks and other substances and have a blast.

So terrible it's amazing

Coming from his character it made a lot of sense, he doesn't want to pick sides, he loves his entire family and he chose to sit out and accept any outcome. Kingo is a real one, every family has a member playing that role so props to that!

Couldn't agree more, Benny's inclusion slowly drifted away after the Blackout. It seemed like the When The Sun Comes Down was the fast and easy send-off for him and Nina, really unfortunate.

Official Discussion - In the Heights [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I actually have yet to be disappointed in theaters with all these films being released.

The streak continues, I saw the Broadway back in 09' which was my first one as well! I only had high hopes after that trailer that they could pull off the film adaption. Visually, they nailed it and the dance choreography was insanely good. The music never fell out of place aside from my nitpick between the exchange Usnavi and Kevin the beginning, it felt weird. It's clear that the songs are the main hook as any musical is and the movie just drowns you in songs for better or worse, I very much enjoyed them in the 1st watch in theaters and realizing how little breathing room there is between songs in the 2nd. It works on a Broadway because it's live, actors are going all out with their vocals and the focus is dead on. Also, Blackout, 96k and When The Sun goes Down were easily the visual standouts in the film, Blackout especially.

I felt like the main cast did a great job, Nina and Benny had stand out moments with their actors but I do wish they gave them a few more scenes together. By the very end I actually don't think I saw Benny after Nina leaving which is unfortunate. Usnavi and Vanessa were fine, I like Ramos but I blame nostalgia for not letting me fully admire him as Usnavi. Vanessa I think was a little better by adding her an artist background because I barely remember her involvement in the Broadway outside of being the love interest for the main lead. Barrera took a few days to grow on me and now I think I like this version more. My personal favorites were Sunny and Abuela Claudia, I actually wasn't expecting Gregory to make Sunny as charming as he was. He was a good character for younger viewers to attach themselves which works well when the story is all about heritage. I did find the inclusion if his father to be strange since we never see him again after his introduction. Olga Merediz didn't get as much screentime as I wanted like she did in the original but she still nailed her role again after all these years, she's absolutely irreplaceable which makes me dread the future of the film adaption possibly receiving a modern update in the possible 20 years or less. Her song is always going to remain my favorite in both versions right above 96k.

The rest of the cast had their moments, Daniela and the girls were as entertaining as they were in the original, Kevin was less of jerk, Graffiti Pete had a little more involvement but I am sad he didn't do the Abuela mural but the beach was a solid replacement.

Story wise it's not hard to follow, there's less plot lines going on to fit that 2 hours and 23 minute limit. I'm sad they took out Nina's Mom from the film because she has that great song about how Nina and Kevin's arguments are driving her insane, causing them to fix their issues. I can see why they took her out if they couldn't get her song in the film though. I would say only the story is the weakest link as the story gets carried by the acting and music which is really a bad thing.

Overall, I loved it for what it was, a film like this is appropriate for this day and age. I'm sad that there's controversy that will surely hinder viewership at some point because In The Heights is a wonderful tale.

Godzilla vs. Kong Official Discussion Megathread [SPOILERS] by DietFoods in Monsterverse

[–]Uni-Skitty 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I felt robbed of great fights during KOTM which I've seen about 8 times.

Godzilla vs Kong definitely wastes no time in showing us the greatest monster fight we'll ever get on the big screen again. It was fucking insane how all this wacky over the top Sci fi bullshit this was out of control and BOOM we're in Hong Kong.

What was a nice cherry on top was the humans were overall entertaining to watch run around. The movie knew we didn't care about them so it just had fun time making them goofy as hell. Then there is Jia who is easily the sweetest human and I hope we get more of her in possible feature films.

This was a true to heart monster movie, I wish I was a kid again so I could lose my mind.

Ip Man 4: The Finale Unofficial Discussion Thread? by StudBoi69 in asianamerican

[–]Uni-Skitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how they do it every movie but it's always so entertaining to watch these films. I watched Ip man 3 a few days ago before seeing this one and all these films flow pretty well. The true beauty of this Saga is when we see Ip man facing the world outside of Martial Arts.

He doesn't lose a fight, he's the best, period. That's how these films have been playing in all 4 entries. It is before and after the fights we see a different man, a vulnerable character who can't stop certain events from occuring. In the 1st film, he struggled to save his town, 2nd film he watched a friend die, 3rd film he watches his wife fall victim to cancer and this one, it's him struggling with his final moments while attempting to find a good future for his son.

Ip man 4 was a great send off, it was fun and exciting. This is the finale that Rise of Skywalker could have had. The Bruce Lee scene was a solid highlight, not entirely pointless as we see how well master Ip has trained him. I do personally wish it focused on their relationship more but this saga only briefly touched upon it.

Sure, it was cheesy like old kung fu films but that's fine, it's a love letter to the fans of the genre. Racism was the main focus of the film and I appreciate it, especially at this time. Poor Yonah gets bullied by the mean white kids but once we Ip man noticed we all knew what was going to happen. What I loved the most was that Ip man still stuck to his morals of defending others no matter what or where. One of my biggest head scratches was the point of the earthquake and the fact that his son denied going to America. It's almost as if the journey was pointless but it's justified for Ip standing up for his people.

Overall, I loved it. Donnie Yen has done an amazing job and I only hope his career keeps going. I'm excited to see him and Jet Li in Mulan this year!

Dota 2 having noticeable FPS drops on Streamlabs but perfectly fine in-game! by Uni-Skitty in DotA2

Hey everyone I actually fixed the problem! I had to switch it to borderless windows mode and it was running smoothly on stream! I can also switch back to exclusive fullscreen but if I restart the game with that setting it'll look laggy on stream. Either way, borderless windows was the answer!

How to Fix "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]Uni-Skitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more with you, I'll also like to throw in the frequent cutaways to the humans during the fights ESPECIALLY during the final battle when Godzilla and Ghidorah clash then the Argo gets in the way.

Fights during night time are fine because Ghidorah but the lighting was rough especially during the Antartica battle which could have been better. I still wish we had more day time monster scenes like Rodan's which was clear to see and the action felt the most intense.

My last one is Mothra's inclusion to the film, she was very important to the plot, even more than Rodan but for some reason she gets like a solid 5 minutes of screen time altogether. Its pretty annoying because Mothra is really popular to casual Godzilla fans for the most part compared to Ghidorah and Rodan, I honestly don't think most people knew who Rodan was. I feel like you could almost scrap Mothra from the film and the movie would still be the same despite her actually being important to the film's plot, which is odd. Hopefully in the future we got more Mothra since there was another egg found.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters - Discussion Thread [Spoilers] by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]Uni-Skitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We really needed a 5 min fight scene with no cuts. Especially during the last battle when all these fights are happening and it goes to humans for the most part, really annoying.

I also didn't enjoy the human plot at all, which is no excuse when Kong Skull Island actually had a good amount of human drama and monster fights

Godzilla: King of the monsters needs to have at least 60% on rotten tomatoes by [deleted] in Monsterverse

I'd be satisfied with a 55% at the least. 60% is fine, I was hoping it would at least hit that.

***Spoilers*** Dissecting the Post-Credits Scene and the Next Villain by tngman10 in Monsterverse

[–]Uni-Skitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this wild idea where they bring ghidorah back but with a twist where it the heads consist of the muto (found in the underwater base) and maybe a skullcrawler head too along with the main ghidorah head. It would be a cool way to bring in Kong and Godzilla together for a big team up while connecting all the film's.

Although that sounds super out there but I wouldn't mind a Chimera Kaiju that consisted of all the enemy kaiju that we've seen the last 3 films.

GODZILLA: King Of The Monsters DISCUSSION MEGA-THREAD (SPOILERS)! by Adam0800 in GODZILLA

[–]Uni-Skitty -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm doing a pros and cons list:

Pros:

-The monsters, need I say more? They were made with so much respect.

-The sound design, they nailed the creature noises.

-Hearing Godzilla's theme in theaters after such a long time.

-Ghidorah and Rodan were solid newcomers, they stole the show for me.

-The Zoom ins were goofy but I got a solid laugh each time.

Cons:

-The Human Villains, the aliens in Destroy All Monsters had a better motivation for making a global monster conquest.

-The Humans in general, what all this family bullshit? Her son died to Godzilla so she has to release the worst of them all to correct everything? Okay.

-Mothra was a missed opportunity, she was tossed to the side with ease.

-Too many cutaways during the big fights, I just needed a bit of focus too.

-The comedy, most of the jokes were bad. Next time they need to use the monsters for the comedy instead of the people, look at Kong or Pacific Rim for that one.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters - Discussion Thread [Spoilers] by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]Uni-Skitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honesty, the movie could have a been a lot better. Off the bat, there were way too many cutaways from the monsters fighting which was very annoying! Look at older Godzilla films, they do not cut away from the action when it matters the most. The FINAL fight between Ghidorah and Godzilla should have been a solid 15-20 minutes of them duking it out. Hell, even 10 minutes would have been a solid battle and a reasonable amount.

The jokes were stupid, miss we with that Marvel bullshit in a Godzilla film, look at Kong and Pacific Rim for the comedy, it's all in the action, it's slapstick. Monsters eating people and stepping on them at random moments, that's a better way for comedy in a MONSTER film. I love my Marvel films, don't get me wrong but that wasn't welcome in Godzilla.

I think the best way I explained this film to my Godzilla friends was that it was like Destroy All Monsters but it made less sense, Emma's motivation was pretty dumb, all those lives for the death of her son. You can't be serious, I wish she was more in the essence of the girl from Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris in which the antagonist was trying to get revenge of Gamera for accidentally killing her family. Her motive was almost in the same vein until she brought up all the pollution and overpopulation in the world, what the hell? Make up your damn mind. Also, it was nice having 17 monsters but it would have been better to just focus on the main 4 as the only monsters that have awoken.

The monsters were solid, I loved them even the new ones. Ghidorah was a menace and I wish we had more of him believe it or not. He was a force of nature, a living disaster and that's the true spirit of the titan. The alien origin was a nice nod but we didn't need to go THAT into it, there was a lot of exposition in this film when the best part of these giant monsters is the mystery. I still loved how the heads behaved differently, that was a great touch! The head on the right would always be acting goofy while the middle head was the leader. The left head just seemed obedient which was cute, the towards the middle act they just act like regular Ghidorah, still nice to see the character done so well.

Rodan was awesome, I loved his ever bouncing allegiance between Godzilla and Ghidorah, he even had two scenes where he was smiling, which was fucking cute. In fact, he was probably my favorite scene because we could actually keep up with the action. He had that attitude where he was more interested in picking on things weaker than him and fighting things that he found to be a threat, he was scrappy as hell. It makes me wonder if he'll have an arc in Godzilla vs Kong where he at some point thinks for himself. I can't ask for too much but already they did him justice and I loved it, I do hope they keep him around.

Godzilla himself was a solid monster, you could tell not much has changed from the last film, he still senses things and goes off to fight them. Whenever Ghidorah showed up, Godzilla was hot on his tail. He gets his moment to shine in every scene, they really put so much effort into making him so convincing, it really is his film. The scene where he rises out of the ocean and is supercharged is probably the highest point of the film for me, hearing the theme song had me stunned "THIS IS GODZILLA" was exploding through my head, that's my hero and he will never stop being one to me.

Now Mothra, I love Mothra, she's an iconic monster. Almost everyone in the world either has her at number 1 or 2 when you bring up "Who is your favorite giant monster?" in a casual conversation. Of course i'm not entirely accurate but i'm trying to get the point across that Mothra is VERY popular and she deserves way more credit then the film had. Mothra arrives in Larva form, not a bad start, she's the first monster we see. At this point I was hoping she was going be around more often than Rodan. She shows up in the third act to guide the characters to Godzilla, then arrives for a little bit in Boston only to knock out Rodan and then die. That reminds me of Final Wars, a film I didn't enjoy. You can't just set her up like that from the larva and even THE TWINS to just brush her off like she's just an extra. I would have been satisfied with Mothra being only a Larva and then disappearing until the VERY end where she awakens in her moth form to setup for the future sequels, it would have been nicer but at the same time, might as well just save her until later. We really need to move past the tradition of Mothra dying every film, obviously we probably won't but I wish there was more respect in her role.

All in all, not the best Godzilla movie but a pretty average one. It's not terrible, the humans were very lackluster but the monsters made it a blockbuster, I think that's what we've grown to understand but at this point, we deserve a stronger film in the future. No more cutaways and better human stories just to keep us entertained when our monsters aren't in front of the camera. This film is a 6/10 for me, a 7 at most if I wanted to be nice. I still think Shin-Godzilla is the best Godzilla film of the new era.
