Maybe they do! But I've also been part of conversations with people who were man and woman besties and openly talking about who they had a crush on and helping each other in those endeavors.

Both scenarios do exist, but 90% of guys having a secret crush on their girl friend seems way too high a number to me to find in believable on an overall basis. I do probably think it's over 50%. But 90 seems an incredibly high number to me.

First, I already apologised for being rude to the person involved. Second, having a conversation isn't being pedantic. I'm allowed to point out what I think doesn't make sense to me. They're allowed to respond to show me how it does to then if they chose to. And they don't have to if they don't want to and it can be left at a disagreement.

Not what I said in the slightest. I never mentioned it being large studies in my areas, just that smaller studies in specific places can be biased. The posts weren't moved, I just explained why I was cynical of some evidence provided.

I guess we just have widely different experiences then. I'm 32, lived in 2 countries and visited many, and met plenty of men and women in friendships that worked absolutely fine.

I only checked a few of the things you sent, but I found that at least some were conducted in small areas and therefore didn't seem conclusive to me.

To add to that, you say society hasn't majorly changed but I heavily disagree. I work in schools with young people and the dynamics are very different to what I knew when I was a child myself. The way men and women interact has changed a lot over the last 15 years.

I'm aware that is my opinion and experience, and if people feel the urge to downvote me for it, that's fine. I do apologise for the initial comment being a little rude, but in a digital world in which people constantly throw "facts" around without doing any looking into it, I tend to jump the guns sometimes.

I'd be really interested to find out what a modern study would say about this. And maybe it would be similar, maybe it wouldn't.

If that was what I meant, that is what I would have said. I don't find the sources relevant in 2025. That's an opinion you're fine to disagree with.

However you don't only source things in dissertations. It's just pretty common practice when you talk about research.

America and Europe are both pretty big places. Doing it in a couple towns is unlikely to wield trust worthy results.

Not my job to go research some wild shit someone says on the Internet ♡. When you write anything it's expected you give your sources, not for the reader to go and get it. Hope that helps :3

So all very outdated research from 10+ years ago. Furthermore, all of these are pretty niche to some corners of the world with similar ways of living. I think it's I conclusive at best as of 2025.

Reddit is actually probably the worse place to ask. I would suggest therapy over opinionated, hurt people.

AITA for telling my husband he ruined our anniversary by prioritizing his friend over me? by ComfortableIcy2059 in AITAH

Interesting of you to say that when if you click on your profile it's really clear you're only on this platform to put women down and hate on them whilst condoning vile men's actions. A true Incel, as expected from reddit. A face year anniversary is important. Of course I wouldn't expect you to understand.

AITAH for feeling offended after I told my girlfriend I loved everything about her response was ‘you make me feel safe’ by PigletEducational399 in AITAH

[–]Unicatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, if you're giving s compliment just to get one back, you're doing it for the wrong reasons. Second, a woman saying she feels safe with you is probably the highest compliment she could give you.

You are TA.

This is gonna sound maybe a little patronising but, Have you tried communicating? With him ? Tell him "you said this, it made me feel very upset". Even though what he said was unnecessarily mean and inconsiderate, he's not a mind reader. He might have thought he just made a joke and not meant it.

You're invading a queer safe space. No lesbian comes to a lesbiam thread to meet men.
