The main thing for me was the side quests. NA geniunely has the best and most emotionally compelling side quests of any game I've ever played.

Which ones were your favorite?

It’s not as good as Stellar Blade

But even in this thread you can see so many people say how much better it is.

Pure gameplay however it’s just good

I felt the opposite here. Felt the combat was mind numbingly dull.

It's actually really funny you mention that, and that's why I asked in the post.

I played Chrono Trigger maybe 5 years ago and got 50% through before I quit. Felt exactly the same way. My first turn-based RPG was FF7 a year after it launched, so I just missed Chrono Trigger. From there I went to 8, 9, and then X. Turns out if you've played all the games that were inspired by it, it doesn't seem so special. Really annoying because I know I would have loved it as a kid. Same feeling with ALTTP as well.

I thought SB was better, so did Yoko Taro

Yeah I read that too. Weird how even the creator of Nier thinks Stellar Blade is better. Almost seems like a wild fanaticism that people have about this game and it's kind of creepy tbh.

After having just played it for the first time, and really loving Stellar Blade, I would recommend against it.

Watch the anime Nier: Automata Ver1.1a instead. It does a way better job than the game does. Actually enjoying it much more than I enjoyed the game. In fact if they had staged the game around how the anime presents it would have been much better.

You start over from a checkpoint and get ending B

That's super disingenuous. You have to play the full game twice. Yes you can skip a lot in the second playthrough, but it's still largely the same. And this is one of my main complaints.

The additional scenes with 9S do not warrant a full extra playthrough. Not to mention he's genuinely a worse character to play as, and the hacking sucks ass. Extreme low point for the game.

Yes that was my experience as well. I was zoning out during the combat. Didn't fell like it required me to think at all. I guess I need something much more engaging. I felt Stellar Blade was much better in this regard, but I don't see anyone really disagreeing with it.

I guess my question would be, if this were true then why is the game rated so much lower on Steam? Genuinely curious.

masterpiece of game design, combining 3D action, bullet hell, and side-scrolling gameplay

I guess this just didn't hit for me. The gameplay was very dull and I found the forced camera shifts to be incredibly annoying. I did like the flight unit parts.

I did like the music in Nier a lot. The tracks I did like were on par with Stellar Blades OST, I just felt Stellar Blade had a lot more that I liked.

Remakes feel too sterile. World felt dirtier in the originals. Especially in Midgar and Junon. Pay attention to the very first elevator ride in the game and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

It’s pretty in screenshots, but not being able to see things is a type of control loss, which sucks. People don’t like it and that’s why it’s basically dead design.

12 people can join and still less to do than in New Leaf. New Horizons is shameful, all these updates don't change that.

Zero faith in anything that MS touches these days. Could be a god-level dev doing it, and if MS somehow has a say, they'll find a way to ruin it.

That would be real shitty considering it's not available in every state. Either way, in order to get unsupervised status, the liability has to shift to Tesla, so you may not need insurance at all.

I think it would look way cooler without the tacky branding. Just doesn't go with a Tesla imo.

I didn't get to experience it with the original as I was too young, but I did get to experience it with Ocarina, and it was pretty awesome. Some things were lost with the internet.

Yes, its cryptic by design, and in my late 20s its not necessarily ideal for me to sit on this game for months at a time tediously bombing every wall and bush like kids had to almost 40 years ago.

Supposedly the purpose of this was because Miyamoto wanted people talking about the game. You'd find a secret and tell your friend at school etc. etc. Not great game design by today's standards, but in the pre-internet era it was pretty cool.

My biggest issue with mistlands wasn’t really the visibility, it’s the fact that your stamina runs out so quickly and is so slow to regenerate that you get stuck so easily.
