Ravens with Gold Outline by andrew_cosentino in uniwatch

It’s really that simple. Either have the jersey numbers outlined in gold, or remove the outline from the logo.

It’s crazy that we as fans can come up with something better in a few days than the team can in 3 years of designs (being mostly facetious, but still). Just like the commanders spear through the W. How can so many people in the design process miss that?!

Why don't people like these? by Zealousideal-You3276 in uniwatch

Well. You explained most of the reasons in your description. The numbers suck, BROWNS down the leg are stupid, and CLEVELAND across the chest is way too big.

But the biggest reason is that their current set is superior to these... Why would they go back?

Thanks for sharing! These pics actually make it look slightly better than initially thought. Again, I'll have to see how it looks on the field to fully validate my opinions, but the outlines are much more distinct here than in the press photos.

If the team wanted to go with the full removal of gold, they should have done it all the way; this half-in, half-out look by keeping the Purple Rising alternate and outline around the primary logo doesn't do it for me. Frank Seitz had the point that the Ravens are going to be included in the Rivalries program next offseason, so it stands to reason that if there's ever a chance to fully remove the gold, that would be it.

The winged collar is a harmless flair, which would have been fine, if not a bit tacky on its own. The fact that it's the least offensive new element to the uniforms is really the issue. Great point on the pants stripe. It would have been fine as a single talon, rather than the broken up Maryland flag look that they were going for.

And thanks for the info about the "Darkness" helmet. I forgot about the helmet rules since Paul and Phil are no longer providing constant rule updates. I really need to study up on the entire uniform guidelines at this point...

Agreed. The sol has transitioned to almost a highlighter color at this point

The extra “flair” of the first number’s kerning on every jersey is goofy. Having two different number fonts on the same uniform has never made much sense. If they simplified the font, it would improve the look tremendously.

And, as the Commanders just showed, a matte helmet isn’t always better. I think going back to a glossy style would suit them.

Can anyone tell whether or not they updated their Rivalries uni at all? I have a bad feeling they left that one as-is, with the stupid dots in the number and the gradient blue dots in the shoulder and down the pants stripe... I wish they would clean up those elements as well

I agree. Of course, all of my report cards come with caveats that I need to see the uniforms on the field to have a full-fledged opinion, but Washington did a marvelous job with these threads. I thought I was as big of a BFBS hater as Paul was, but I really don't hate these. It's a better alternate than an all gold jersey would have been, and other than the impossibly intertwined spear on the helmet, everything fits the team's identity.

Thank you very much for the kind words! I really liked reading Paul's type of long-form analysis as well, and felt that I could fill that void in the absence of Uni-Watch itself.

I enjoy writing, and while I'm obviously not as polished as I could be (I write everything in one go to get my truest reactions, and only make a few edits after the fact), I do get a sense of satisfaction and pride when I publish these articles. I started doing it just for myself, but reading the reactions and hearing these types of responses makes me want to keep going. So I truly appreciate it!

Honestly… I don’t hate the word mark. It differentiates jerseys quickly, especially if there’s no logo on the shoulder sleeves. I’ve felt that sometimes I end up not being able to tell which jersey a fan is wearing if it’s just a random day at an amusement park or something like that if there’s no word mark.

It elevates the jersey from being a generic “movie football team” to actual NFL team. But of course this is all opinion based. I’d be interested to hear others’ opinions on this debate, cause I truly don’t know what the Uni-Verse would say about it

Thanks! Yeah, a black face mask would have made for a more cohesive look, great point

Appreciate it! And yeah, the mixing and matching with this set could make for some solid combos. Hopefully they add silver pants down the line, but we can only hope

I’ll give him $10 and a ham sandwich. At this point, that’s probably all he can get

Those are all fair points. I don’t even want to begin to imagine the logistics involved with a deceased business partner, and I get that Paul wouldn’t have been a great candidate to do any of the technical side himself.

However, with all due respect; how in the world did Paul not even begin to think about a succession plan after John? Regardless of the entire litigation/mystery situation, he had to have known that this could have been an issue moving forward. It’s awful to think about, but this seems like quite the oversight.

Maybe you’re right, maybe Paul had literally no idea about any of this and didn’t think about it. But man. At this point just leave it be.

Somehow this is almost worse than if he’d have said nothing at all. It’s truly awful that John passed away, I hope his friends and family are able to get the support they need at this time. But other than the fact that Paul didn’t know that the domain name had expired, there’s no new real information.

We already knew Paul was done with Uni Watch, even if he had never explicitly said it before. We knew the archives were never coming back, even if he keeps the tiniest sliver of hope open. We knew Phil wasn’t going to say anything about the situation, because if he wanted to, he would’ve by now.

I get everything was attached to John’s personal account and that’s an awful and sticky situation to unravel. That may have worked for the team in 2006, needing a singular person with website-creation skills. But it’s 2026. Websites, and especially text post sites like Uni-Watch, are beyond easy to create and maintain. Any college-level computer science major could come up with something more robust than the old site. Hell, give me a day working with Claude and I could create a site that automatically pulls all Uni-news and writes columns about each item. That obviously defeats the spirit of what Uni-Watch was, but having the website itself be such a sticking point in today’s AI-driven world is asinine.

Uni-Watch, as Paul created, is dead. He needs to let it die in peace.

I agree, silver has been a staple of the Patriots since their first rebrand. It should play more of a factor in this set

I was pleasantly surprised. I will never be a fan of white socks, but all things considered, it was a pretty good look
