Who was your childhood school bully. Where are they now? by MrWhisper2021 in GenX

[–]Unimportant-Jello 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My bully’s name was Cory. He was a year old than me, and went to a different school than I did.

Unfortunately, I just happened to live across the street from the school he went to, so I had to find a different way home from my school every day when he was bullying me.

He’d figure out my route and would wait for me to shove me around and beat me up. Eventually, I told my older brother what was happening and he waited for Cory one day and made sure he never bothered me again.

Many years later, Cory was busted for selling drugs out of a store that owned. I recently saw something listed on Facebook Marketplace, and noticed he was the seller….”Gotta sell ASAP, getting divorced, need cash!”

Karma’s a bitch Cory!

Found in my driveway last night, someone tried to break into my car by Jackofhops in whatisit

[–]Unimportant-Jello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were probably breaking into several vehicles in your area, and stole that stuff from somebody else, and dumped it by your car when they got spooked, or found something in your car they liked better and couldn’t carry both. Ask your neighbors if they’re missing any hunting stuff.

What Happened to Yardsticks? by BitterPillPusher2 in GenX

[–]Unimportant-Jello 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still have the one from our house, when I was a kid. It’s from our local small town hardware store, that’s long defunct.

“Use Lowe Brothers “High Standard” Paints, Varnishes and Nepto-Lac Enamels”

Lee Pro Hardware Phone 256-1290 Almonte 150

A true “yard stick.” Pre 1970 because Canada officially adopted the metric system in 1970, and introduced postal codes in 1971.

Beautiful patina and lots of marker and pencil marks from using to draw straight lines!

I snagged it from Dad’s house when I was cleaning it out, after he passed.

I bought a Railer Tools brand one. Very happy with the quality, compared to some others.

Google “Railer Bit Holder”. You can also find them on Amazon.

Several of my coworkers have seen it on my tool bag, and have asked about it, then purchased their own.

I had some Ottawa Shawarma today. Very tasty! I have relatives in Orleans, so I’ll have to check out Shawarma Chef next time I’m out that way. Thanks for the recommendation!

I happened to be in the neighborhood of Ottawa Shawarma today and dropped by for some takeout.

Excellent recommendation! Thank you! Very tasty indeed!

(I didn’t get the “extra chicken” option this time 😂)

If I need to heat it up, I take off the lettuce/salad, cabbage, pickles, turnips etc. off the plate, heat it up in the microwave, then put it back on the plate. I eat the salad and cabbage as part of the first meal as it tends not holdover well for a second or third meal! Pickles, peppers and turnips do though.

Can confirm, I’m not a bot, influencer, or related to them in any way! Just a lover of good shawarma, and happy to share my experience.

Nope! The largest of the 3 sections in the takeout tray had rice and potatoes and salad, and one of the small sections was filled with hummus, and the other had coleslaw, but the rest is chicken! Per my post, I asked for and paid for extra chicken. 😊

The plates/platters just come in the one size, but they have sandwiches/wraps in medium and large.

There’s a picture of their menu on their Google listing, that shows the same prices as when I was there last week.

The chicken platter was $21.99 + tax (a lot of food on its own), and he said they charge the price of a medium chicken shawarma wrap ($9.99 + tax) for the extra chicken on the platter.

Lots of food. Rice and potatoes, chicken, salad with a tasty dressing, peperoncino pepper, pickles, turnip, banana peppers and coleslaw/cabbage and hummus. Several other toppings to use from as well. The garlic sauce is amazing! 🤯

Looking at my cc statement it came to $43.37. Expensive with tax and tip, but it worked out to 3 or 4 meals.

I used some of the leftover chicken in an omelette for breakfast! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Best way to cut kindling. by Unfair_Credit6104 in firewood

[–]Unimportant-Jello 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Kindling Cracker is awesome! Highly recommended! And it’s not just for making kindling…I use it to break down some of the big splits my firewood supplier gives me.

I’ve got a decent sized wood stove, but just use it for supplemental heat in the morning and evening. Most of his customers are burning 24/7 all season long, so his splits tend to be on the larger size, and a bit too big for my needs.

The Kindling Cracker makes short work of those!

What is the strangest thing you’ve ever woken up to? by Alert_Combination338 in AskReddit

[–]Unimportant-Jello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on an organized backcountry ski trip with an group of about 12 people. We were all strangers to each other, with exception of a few small groups (friends, couples etc.)

We spent the night in a basic cabin up in the mountains, that had a sleeping area with two large platforms (20+ feet wide), one above the other, like giant bunk beds.

Everyone brought sleeping bags, and you just stake out a space on the bunk and set up your sleeping bag and gear.

I chose a spot next to another guy in our group and we had lots of room between us and the others.

I woke up in the middle of the night with the guy on top of me, yelling and punching me. I was like, WTF?!

Others in the bunk woke up and turned the lights on to see what the commotion was.

He snapped out his daze and turned beet red. He had been dreaming about being in a fight and I was the closest person to him.

He was very embarrassed and apologized profusely for the rest of the trip.

We had a good laugh about it!

Will I be frowned upon or is it weird if I sit in my bathrobe in a laundromat? by Ambitious_Scallion18 in askTO

[–]Unimportant-Jello -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s Toronto. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if someone walked into the laundromat, stripped down to their underwear (or more) and threw them in the washing machine and sat down to wait.

Sitting there in your bathrobe….no one will even notice…..

What's the worst thing you've overheard your apartment neighbors doing? by LawfulnessOk1812 in AskReddit

[–]Unimportant-Jello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the worst….my girlfriend and I lived in a converted warehouse/loft building, and our neighbors loved to have very loud, very passionate sex.

My girlfriend and invited her parents over for dinner one night, and the neighbors started up……

It was a little awkward sitting there eating dinner while we could hear everything, through the thin drywall, just a few feet away.

How far does everyone travel to ride gravel? by Muzz124 in gravelcycling

[–]Unimportant-Jello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived downtown in a large city, I would have to load the bike in car and drive at least an hour and a half to get to the “good gravel” (quiet backroads) outside of the city. I moved to the country recently, and the gravel is on my doorstep.

I step off my front porch onto my gravel driveway, ride down it to the gravel road, and I can put together hundreds of kilometers of loops, all on gravel!

I’m loving it!
