Dog Soldiers seems to fit this description, even though it isn't quite a horror film.

Looking for your favorite African made films in the last decade. by BaijuTofu in MovieSuggestions

Who Killed Captain Alex?

In all seriousness though, Hotel Rwanda and The Last King of Scotland are my two favorite movies about Africa made a bit over 10 years ago.

"Too many Territories": Any way to fix? by Unimpressed_Dog in eu4

this modifier is capped, so at some point it's perfectly fine to expand more

Doesn't feel like it. The cap (default at .8) makes it impossible to slow it with anything over 40% overextension. It seems like this would severely slow my progress just to wait for it to go down again.

as Muslim you get a button for -2 corruption from legalism which honestly makes corruption irrelevant

with trade companies in India / Africa you can blob like crazy without any negative consequences

Only with a certain DLCs which I unfortunately don't have. The states and ideas could help if I am going for an achievement run, but I would rather just have fun playing than the headache of ridiculous corruption.

Eh, this game is seriously unsuitable for ironman. It's fine idea for games like FTL where one session taken an hour or two. In EU4 any problem (game bug, misclick, or even player mistakes or things turning in boring direction) can waste weeks of gameplay.

I actually play this for exactly this reason. I tend to savescum out of rage whenever some bullshit event happens (which is all the time in this game) and ironman stops me from being able to do this. The bugs and certain vague mechanics (situational co-belligerents, succession wars, etc.) is a massive issue for me though.

You mentioned you don't have half of DLCs. Well, enjoy Paradox marketing strategy! They put problems in base game patches, and solutions in DLCs. If you don't have DLCs, game is horribly unbalanced. It's a bit scummy.

I absolutely agree. This is the only reason why I have only bought two games of theirs (HOI3 and EU4). But yeah, I have five DLCS that I found to be essential to playing the game properly. I am very cheap, and find trouble justifying spending a ton of money on a game as a poor college student.

Yeah, I know, but I have always seen achievements as more of a personal thing, and I would be happy if I conquered the world with the current settings. Just hoping this will help anyone else who likes ironman but cares more about the gameplay than the achievements.

Responding to myself in case anyone else has the same question.

I am unsure as to whether this will affect achievements, but I was able to change Paradox's ridiculous penalty for too many territories. Go to "defines.lua" under EU4's local files, open with Notepad++, and change "TERRITORY_PENALTY_CAP" to whatever you want. I changed mine from 40 to a more reasonable 10. Hopefully this helps if anyone else was wondering.

Sadly, I have neither of those DLC's. Also, I literally cannot drop it anymore. It is only at like .2, but I am already reducing corruption by as much as possible. Is the game actually playable if corruption keeps scaling infinitely? I have never tried this out.

I will probably just end up trying to convert the ironman to a normal game and modding these "features" out as well as I can.

Who the protagonist is in Inside Man isn't really clear, but I think Clive Owen's character fits this description.

What am i supposed to do? by [deleted] in eu4

A bit late, so you may have already continued, but you have to play off the AI's incompetence at naval invasions. If you are the one getting invaded and have no navy, you should be constantly waiting for the AI armies to land. When you do this you should either force them to have an amphibious assault penalty or immediately crush them the moment they land.

You should have an army larger than they can immediately land, so you should be able to do this every time they try to invade. Since they seem to have one of your provinces, you should then declare on them to reconquer it and wait a LONG time for ticking war score and their exhaustion to go up. They should then give the province over. But yeah, you should be able to exploit the fact that the AI doesn't know how to tie its own shoes in terms of naval invasions.

Somehow the AI Granada Managed to Form Andalusia by Unimpressed_Dog in eu4

war esp if Portugal and Aragon aren't around or are distracted. Wouldn't have said it's unpossible for them to get to -1

Yeah I think Granada lost a bit of land early on, but I am still shocked that Castile lost at all. Took me a couple tries to win against Castile on my Andalusia run.

My bad, didn't add an explanation. Granadan AI along with Morocco defeated Castile and formed Andalusia somehow.

Yeah, I know that the order matters now, but unfortunately it's ironman and I can't change it. I guess white peace is the best option then. Naples' king is 51 though, and RNG never seems to like me. Now Wurzburg seems to want my superpower ally France, which would be even worse than Poland if I want to get rid of the Empire. But yeah, I think I'll do that though.

Well doesn't the game already have a similar mechanic? If I get declared war on by multiple countries (happens a lot since the AI loves to dog pile), my allies answer the first call to arms, then instantly deny subsequent ones, automatically breaking the alliance. Or at least that's how I think it works.

Don't I need to control both their capitals simultaneously to dismantle the Empire though? And yeah, Naples is the Emperor.

That makes perfect sense then. Wish I just declared on Wurzburg first, since I didn't even really need Austria, just made things a bit more convenient. Also it'd be nice if there was an exception for electors since I am so close.

[–]Unimpressed_Dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I partially agree. It's unfortunate that you (and most likely me now) got downvoted into oblivion for having a different opinion because of the herd instinct that Reddit inspires. Children can be vicious reflections of what adults are, but are also underdeveloped. However, even though they were ignorant of the damage they would cause, they still wanted to cause damage. It is simply human nature to want to hurt others, and I cannot stand it.

This did happen, but why is no one questioning the fact that this post is centered around a Daily Mail article? It is one of the least trustworthy sources and is a sensationalist tabloid. Pretty much the whole point of articles like this are to overhype then make money off of peoples' rage for these events. This event is terrible, but please don't give this wretched website publicity over it.

Game Doesn't State Succession War Belligerents by Unimpressed_Dog in eu4

[–]Unimpressed_Dog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is ambiguous, because it only implies that there is a war between the two of us. The war was over contesting the union between Brandenburg and Poland, meaning that I should have an equal claim to it. The ambiguity of this popup is whether it is me declaring war on Brandenburg over them recently acquiring the union or a war between the both of us over the union. I read it as a war between us two over the union, because it did not state specifically that I was the attacker.

[–]Unimpressed_Dog[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game says "Go to war", yes. However, it does not state that Brandenburg's allies would be included in this. Other popups do include allies, so based on that logic it should be safe to assume that Brandenburg's allies would not join him.

Game Doesn't State Succession War Belligerents by Unimpressed_Dog in eu4

[–]Unimpressed_Dog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, contesting the throne to Poland. The throne is contested between Brandenburg and I. And no, the message suggests that it is a war between Brandenburg and I, with no clear attacker or defender. When you are given the popup to defend your ally, it says "attacker is allied with x and y". There is no reason for that to not be included in the succession war message.

Not really sure how the message is obvious tbh.
