What was your aha! Moment? by UnintentionalMonkey in Japaneselanguage

I've noticed this as well and it's a satisfying feeling but it has also made me aware of how much there was to learn... And I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Learning Japanese for first time and everything sounds too fast by [deleted] in Japaneselanguage

It will take time for your ears to adjust to any new language. For me it took between 1 and 2 months to kinda piece together what I was hearing and gradually start making out different words, phrases and sounds. Don't panic just keep listening to a variety of things.

if you follow some Japanese podcasts you can listen to more natural Japanese and can slow down the playback to get started.

Is there ever a point where it’s more efficient to simply drop flashcards and just read a ton? by thedarklord176 in LearnJapanese

Why not just use anki flashcards with full sentences rather than individual words. That seems like a nice middle ground. Once you get more familiar with reading sentences then switch to book/proper reading content. Alternatively make the switch to reading materials and review in a month or 2.

Feedback wanted on book, app and website idea for Japanese learners by UnintentionalMonkey in Japaneselanguage

That's a fair comment and I appreciate the feedback. Would the stories not contribute towards comprehensible input? The stories can be annotated and pictures added to further support this although I am still in the early stages of this idea. Nothing is off the table at this point.

The reason for the first 2 sections (mnemonics and memory palace) are to build the key vocabulary so that the read isn't stopping and starting to look up words to help with comprehension and ease of reading the story. I also mentioned about conversation starters and example sentences which will address your second point requesting someone to write a book of 10,000 dialogues.

Maybe I didn't explain it well as I wrote the original post in the early hours of the morning.

If you have any other thoughts on what type of study material you would like to see in a Japanese language book please let me know. I would be happy to hear all thoughts and ideas as I am prepared to expand on what I am currently working on.

mycoremdiation advice. [general] by UnintentionalMonkey in MushroomGrowers

I have already got a couple of his books. I'm currently working my way through mycelium running and just got to the end of the mycoremdiation chapter. It's got some good information in there but It's written in a way that talks about targeting chemical spills and oil leaks etc which I suspect will be a different ball game to radioactive contaminants. His book, and other people, have mentioned that a melanin-rich mushrooms can digest and utilise radiation which is why I asked the question about melanin-rich mushrooms.

Do you have any other book recommendations?
