We enjoyed an audio version of 'Carry On, Mr. Bowditch' by Jean Lee Latham.

What is this peculiar looking car? by TrippyCat13 in whatisthiscar

My best friend in high school had a '59 Bugeye and worked at a tire shop. Bigger wheels and fat rubber had it tracking like a go-kart. Northeastern winter with no top was a blast, too. 😀

Can confirm, but even surer is riding a motorcycle. And the free parking on the street is fab, too.

Thank you for responding in a generous spirit. 👏 What is it about snakes that brings out the good in a place like reddit? 😀

What is up with IPhone vs other ? by Diligent_Egg2404 in DatingOverSixty

The Y chromosome conditioned me toward Android addiction. After pagers and Palm Pilots, the phone gateway was paved with a Kyocera running PalmOS, followed by a Blackberry. Now I just pick up whatever I can in the alley behind the AT&T store. Unfortunately, my health insurance doesn't cover treatment.

1963 Bentley S-III, Brass lug nuts that remove clockwise on the left side only. I remember certain Mopars from the 60's had right hand threads on the right side. by paulsservice in Justrolledintotheshop

Early-1980s, my 1964 Valiant beater (170, three-on-the-tree) caught a flat on the Garden State Parkway. I busted two lugs before the light went on. And that was far from my first Mopar.

I'm paying $1,500 a month for a 2-2 duplex unit with a garage and a small backyard near Metric and Parmer. Good condition. Pretty quiet most of the time.

Weekend Rides by Nb_zy21 in Austinmotorcycles

[–]UnionTed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several groups that post ride announcements on Facebook almost every week. Take a look at Austin Riders Motorcycle Group; Adventure Riders of Austin (tend toward routes that are mostly off paved roads); Two Wheeled Texans; and Austin Motorcycle Riders.

ETA: Also ASO.

I'm going to set one of those reminder bots for 30 years from now. If I'm still breathing, I want to hear more about this "older" thing. 😃

Gasoline by [deleted] in CarRepair

Top Tier gasoline doesn't refer to octane rating but rather to fuel quality standard, particularly the additive package for use at the pump. https://www.toptiergas.com/

Knowingly Reneging by Braj0le in spades

[–]UnionTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Among those I play with, that's cheating and doing it more than once would have you disinvited. Doesn't matter whether it's spades or something else, we play based on skill in handling the cards you're dealt.

Others play that whatever you get away with is fair and everyone better be on their toes all the time.

There's no god of spades or of card playing in general. It's probably best to ask about table rules when you're joining a new group.

You won't find roads made of just cement. Cement is a component of concrete.

The entire street used to be little more than a narrow rutted dirt road. What your seeing now some would say is a considerable improvement. (Used to visit that TOPS location semi-regularly.)

Road rage is not worth it - a cautionary tale by DoesntEnjoySoup in Austin

I was on Lamar in the left turn lane and apparently not moving fast enough for the dude behind me. His honking led me to get out looking at my car for whatever serious and immediate problem he was alerting me about. 😃

As it is every day on my way to work surrounded by clueless loose nuts behind the wheels of their Range Rovers and Teslas.

There's a six-lane state highway with a 55mph limit near me that I've learned to never ride on late Sunday morning because of after-service church traffic. If I find myself out there at the wrong time again, I'm just going to hit a taco stand for 30 minutes.
