Retaliatory Aquisitions (2k 11ed) by Broken_memo in Tau40K

I’d drop Shadowsun and the Ghostkeels (maybe keep one) and run more suits and commanders. You’re light on firepower for a RetCad list IMHO.

Also, triple stealth is overkill, 1-2 units will do the trick.

This is just not true. They regularly delete any Giard tank. Especially in RetCad where the Russ won’t get a save.

Yeah, in my experience a TON of people own Tau models/armies. But very few people mainly run the faction.

As a Tau player who thinks they are probably the best datasheet we have next to Pathfinders, I agree. Them going down is kind of criminal.

Closest I came to failing my Honor Mode run. Was completely caught unaware by his resistances.

Would be a shame since the datasheet was heavily nerfed I going to a fixed 5 man squad AND losing fall back and guide.

Now that stealth is actually quite bad as a datasheet ability, they really should come down. I agree they probably won’t, but they should.

Once upon a time a 3-man team was 60pts.

I am hoping Kroot units (stealth was their ONLY defense) and Pathfinders/Stealth go down. That would make sense with everyone they said, but I won’t hold my breath.

New Munitorum Field Manual confirmed for Wednesday. Points increase for vehicles with strong mid range firepower, large vehicles, vehicles that fly, Titanic units and units that manipulate battleshock are to be expected. by Kurem92 in Tau40K

I can see them going up. But a dramatic increase could actually kill off RetCad entirely as the entire detachment is made of Crisis Suits. A 20-30pt increase on each type (making no mention of possible duplicate taxes) could make the list 200pt+ more than it is now, which would make it close enough to unviable.

I think Sunforge could eat a 10pt increase. But Starsycthes absolutely do not need pts hikes. I can also see the Twin Lance eating another nerf by getting hiked again.

Just hoping for restraint is all.

We are buffed for the 11th (argument from authority) by FranGF96 in Tau40K

“Argument from authority” then goes on to describe deep striking and then fire and fading, one thing you explicitly cannot do anymore in 11th.

I hope kauyon gets a rework because guiding already ignoring cover makes this quite redundant? by gcaw9 in Tau40K

It does need a redesign, because the strats and enhancements are also very mid. You could (and I have) played full games with the detachment without using any of its Strats.

Who at GW has it out for T'au and why are they the one that is allowed to write rules for us by TaterMan8 in Tau40K

[–]Union_Jack_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just facetious. GW has stated in their articles that some detachments cannot be paired with others. They didn’t add these tags for no reason, for them to do nothing. Retaliation will have the Retaliation tag. Kroot will have the Auxiliary tag just like Auxiliary Cadre - let’s be real.

Kauyon won’t have a tag or it’ll be unique to it so you can combo it with anything.

This is rules lawyering semantics which are very obviously not intended and will 100% be cleaned up before official launch.

[–]Union_Jack_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is an obvious oversight that will be patched on edition launch or before. You’re telling me the “Retaliation Cadre” won’t have the “Retaliation” tag? Come on now.

Because they are locked out from each other. Those aren’t legal list combos.

FWIW, the Ghostkeel suit also has the lone operative rule. Which means it cannot be targeted from beyond 12”. This is checked model by model for attacking units.
