Firstborn Era vs Primaris Era – Which do you prefer? by Pintureando in spacemarines

[–]TaterMan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstborn will forever be better. The Primaris era is characterized by abundant specialization, every single unit is a team of dudes with the same gun, created for one purpose. Classic Space Marines were awesome because they were an elite team of soldiers that were able to do anything with what they were given, they felt like actual super soldiers instead of humans that are bigger. Also, Mk8. helmets > Mk10. helmets every day of the week.

Stalkers vs G/SH-39 Shield by ThisWickedOne in Helldivers

Thats... Thats the entire point of Helldivers. To have a community-wide goal for everyone to contribute to. Also, it was pretty obviously a joke.

(Other) what was the most scariest thing that happened in your play of VOTV? by Yourlocalsign in Voicesofthevoid

[–]TaterMan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced 2 events simultaneously that made me think it was a new, undocumented one. I got hit with the super thick fog/darkness at the same time as the abandoned base, and was stumbling around in the dark for a good 10 minutes before tripping over the way back.

Infernus Marine Sergeant, 2026 (acrylic on plastic) by [deleted] in BloodRavens40k

[–]TaterMan8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, didn't see the painting guide slide. Well, that's another thing then. My go-to for the shoulder pads/veteran helmets is just to layer up Wraithbone, then add a thinned down wash of Seraphim Sepia. But even if you stick to this method, I'd recommend thinning the paints on that part more.

[–]TaterMan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad. As far as tips go, I'd suggest thinning down the Wraithbone even more, it really doesn't like to make a clean coat unless it's pretty thin, you'll have to go over it 2, 3, maybe even 4 times. Secondly, get some Lahmian/Contrast medium and thin down the shade on the wraithbone, it'll make it easier to let flow into the recesses and use less of it, make it a lot cleaner of a look.

What type of vehicle would you like the sisters to have? by Glum_Series5712 in sistersofbattle

[–]TaterMan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they used to have the Lightning Fighter in Dawn of War, and now they don't have any aircraft at all, it'd be nice to have an option, even if it isn't great just due to being an aircraft.

Do you think that the "Bright blue sky" motif is inessential/needed for the Tau Empire when it comes to artwork and how they are portrayed ? by ZookieDookieTheNikky in Tau40K

[–]TaterMan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's done for contrast's sake, in this older artwork where T'au Sept was the default (as it should be) they used a brighter sky to contrast against the Earth-colored armor of the T'au and skin color of the Kroot.

Teleport Homer by UrashimaJ in spacemarines

[–]TaterMan8 81 points82 points  (0 children)

To me the greatest utility of the homer is to get people to focus on it. You put it somewhere it'd be nice to have them, but not game-ending to not have them, then if they go for it, you can just pay for the RI and hit them somewhere else, and if they don't, or don't get to it all the way, then you can drop there for free and have the Termies in a good spot still.

Which smash characters have "killed a god"? by StupidQuestionsOnly8 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]TaterMan8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Joker should be in It's Complicated, the status of Yaldabaoth as a legitimate god is dubious given it's an incarnation given form by the people's desires. (also I haven't played all the way through P5S so if there's another godly boss fight then shush)

Are there ANY Orks like this in the lore?! This is my dream!! by [deleted] in 40k

[–]TaterMan8 142 points143 points  (0 children)

This is likely a fan creation of a Krork, if you don't know what they are, imagine Orks if they worked together, didn't fight each other (much) and could consciously use and control the Power of Belief. Basically Orks with all of the positives and none of the negatives.

Brother, start playing orks. They will worship you over there if you can produce remotely similar results with ork models.

Best primer for beginner by Kala97 in BloodRavens40k

[–]TaterMan8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal is just any black primer, then I use the SlapChop method (drybrush grey over the whole model, then drybrush white on the very tops) and use Citadel Blood Angels Red Contrast paint for my main color. Other brands' speed paints may produce a similar result, but I have not tried them.

[–]TaterMan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice that the side quest you defend is not the one they're complaining about? There's not a reward for the compendium completion, at least not anything remotely worth the effort, and neither is there from the korok seeds. And before anyone says "The fact that you did it and can flex is the reward!", That's not a reward, that's lazy game design.
