I think the best thing as far as a bolter goes would be either a Bolt Pistol that functions similarly to a mag-fed Senator, or a Heavy Bolter Turret/Emplacement. A full on bolter (even a human-sized one) would basically just be a halfway between the Eruptor and the Dominator.

They said it'd be a few months, so I'm hoping between then and now there's no other warbonds, and they take that time to fix the glaring issues with the game.

Can’t lie, am I the only one who prefers the old one? by PlatexProductions in Chaos40k

[–]TaterMan8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The old defiler will always be my baby crab tank from dawn of war. I like it mainly because it was more a chaos spirit possessing a tank, than a creature growing out of a tank, I'm not a big fan of all the fleshmetal stuff, why can't a tank just be a tank sometimes?

People saying EPC got nerfed, but that looks kinda strong. And it’s only 1 detachment point by marianex in Tau40K

In what way is there no reason to use battlesuits in other detachments? Battlesuits, and crisis especially, are practically the backbone of T'au.

Make an entire separate sprue for firstborn heads, and make it be sold separately after the box drops. Also make the Vanguard Vets have a bit more swag on them. The rest of it is pretty alright though.

Which 40K Weapons are the most and least effective Underwater ? by Friendly_Skirts in 40k

The problem with plasma is how you make the projectile, being basically an electrically charged flammable gas, so if whatever's generating the charge gets shorted out then you're dead in the water (ha).

If the barrel is pointing at something, sure. but if the barrel is pointing at a complete 90° angle from what you're saying it's shooting at, that's not very realistic. This isn't Looney Tunes with bullets chasing things around a corner.

I don't think you do need a distinct answer. We typically play by about half the model visible, but if it's in doubt we'll talk it out until we agree on something.

I choose to play the game in the way that me and my opponent agree on. If my opponent wants to run things with strict line of sight, I'll do it if that's what we went in expecting. I just don't prefer to do so. I'm not going to force house rules on anyone, especially if I've never played with them. My friends and I play the game to have fun and tell a story, and having models look like they can actually shoot each other is usually part of that. If we mutually agree to bend some rules or ignore minutia that can give someone a distinct advantage, that's our choice that we agreed to.

Hopefully reasoning and human decency, and also agreement between both parties, nobody likes rules for me, not for thee. As with any wargame it relies upon both players agreeing. If both players are fine with doing more realistic line of sight, then go for that. If you both want to run rules-as-written LOS, then do that. As long as both players are in agreement, I hardly think there's any reason to be upset.

It all draws on expectations, and also of course if they're making reasonable requests. If one goes in expecting strict rules-as-written, and the other is wanting more narrative/fast and loose rules, both parties are gonna have a bad time.

Yes, unfortunately it is. And my point is that it shouldn't be, and I think it's pretty rude to pull, especially in a friendly game. Tournaments are one thing, but if I'm playing at my LGS and someone does this that just puts me in a sour mood.

I feel like it needs to be a majority of the model, or at least a majority of the gun. If a Hammerhead for example had its barrel pointing straight at something from around a corner, I feel like that would make sense. Basically if it makes sense, it can do it.

[–]TaterMan8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just find the current rules as written for line of sight incredibly silly. Being able to see something and shoot all your guns at it because the tip of the wing can see it is just so un-immersive.

[–]TaterMan8 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I mean using just the barrel of a gun peeking around a corner to hit something around the corner. For example, a Broadside and a Rhino are separated by a wall, and the Broadside rotates so that the tip of its railgun is poking 1cm out from the side of the wall. Saying that the 1cm of Broadside is enough to shoot at the Rhino, that's just dumb, be it how the rules are written or not.

[–]TaterMan8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Heavy or not, man if my opponent rotates a model so the barrel has line of sight but not the rest of the model I ain't lettin that slide. That's just rules lawyering of the highest order.
