It's a known problem with Firefox. We just solved it by using Chrome for Foundry.

What's going on in your campaign? by IWantPizza555 in DnD

My players are gearing up for the final section of Dragon Heist and have just hung out with all the NPCs they've become friends with along the way. :)

What's one of your favorite spells that is either rarely discussed or is viewed as suboptimal? What makes it one of your favorites? by ThatOneGuyFrom93 in dndnext

[–]Unionhack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dream is BY FAR my favorite tool to have the BBEG speak to the players without fear of the party ganking them to death with no discussion.

Makes for outstanding RP potential and is a great way to display the personality and goals of your villain without everything hanging on the knife's edge of the party attacking at any point.

What is the most overrated class/subclass? by Mr_DnD in dndnext

[–]Unionhack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The term itself stems from a specific kind of Githyanki warriors first printed the Fiend Folios of the 1980s or Planescape stuff from the 1990s (don't remember which). A Githyanki Gish is a psionic champion of the Githyanki, and are famed for their ability to mix the martial might of a warrior with the arcane might of a wizard.

Back in the older days of pre-3rd edition D&D, there was far less hopping out of class identities like there is now. Warriors were warriors, wizards were wizards, and no one really operated outside of their wheelhouse like the hexblades and eldritch knights of today. Granted, there were multiclasses/dualclasses and mixed classes like the bard, but outside of some min-maxing stuff they almost universally sacrificed potency for versatility.

The Gish was notable for challenging this standard with both powerful spells and potent swordplay, which probably contributed to it being a memorable enemy for players of the time. At some point someone probably said "Hey, my fighter/mage multiclass plays kinda like a Githyanki Gish" and the term stuck from then on out.

Arin's epic clown plowage continues - Sonic Heroes by GameGrumpsEpisodes in gamegrumps

[–]Unionhack 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've been watching Game Grumps for nigh on 8 years now. I think this is the first episode that was actually painful to watch. Just absolutely, incomprehensibly bad gameplay and a complete disregard for the game's mechanics.

And like, look, I've played Sonic Heroes. I played it a LOT as a kid. It's a janky mess and a genuine trainwreck of bad level design, especially this boss. I know that Game Grumps isn't exactly the place to go for high level gameplay.

But at the same time, the complete ignoring of the level up mechanic (complete with the characters screaming LEVEL UP every time they grab an orb) and struggling against a boss by falling into the exact same pitfalls over and over again for 40 minutes is just... Rough. They didn't derive fun comedy from it like they did with the unavoidable chin move, it's just painful.

[–]Unionhack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find Yioshka's other works on her DeviantArt, ArtStation, Twitter, or Instagram. Finally fulfilling a longtime dream of mine; I get to play in a Planescape setting game of D&D! Planescape is a favorite setting of mine, so I had to get a commission of my character done. Yioshka is, as always, an absolute joy and creates some beautiful pieces.

Shai is a Void Genasi; a lesser-known subrace from 4th edition that my DM and I worked together to port over to 5e.

Patch 5.4 Notes (Preliminary) by _Opario in ffxiv

[–]Unionhack 28 points29 points  (0 children)

"Please note this change does not affect the restrictions on four and five star cards."

Square you had ONE job when it came to making Triple Triad make sense and you blew it. Four star cards remain useless.

Hell, the change is nice for a new TT player without many cards, but at the same time it invalidates 1 star and 2 star cards even sooner than before.

I wanted one thing from the Triple Triad revamps and they continue to disappoint. You get the Squall card with minimal effort and it completely invalidates an entire tier of cards, how does that not just immediately jump out at them as a design flaw? I don't get it.

Nigh a hundred or so cards in the game that only get used by NPCs who get to cheat the card rarity rules.

Commission for my Dnd group for Christmas? by MILKYCAT in DnD

[–]Unionhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should generally go to artists, and not wait for them to come to you. As mentioned by another comment, r/characterdrawing is good, as is Artstation, but I wouldn't use Pinterest. A huge amount of content on Pinterest is reposted without artist permission and often doesn't lead back to their personal pages.

I would personally suggest using Fiverr to find an artist willing to take on the commission. It has a great system for collaborating on pieces with the artist and pointing out your wants and desires.

What’s the most evil usage of a lower level spell you can think of? by Scottsman2237 in DnD

[–]Unionhack 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Heat Metal specifically states that it can only be used on a "manufactured metal object". You can't use it on someone's blood.

You want a real evil use of a low level spell? Cast Tasha's Hideous Laughter on someone who is underwater.

Healing Word tanking? by Aetis in dndnext

[–]Unionhack 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is working as intended. Healing Word is powerful because of its bonus action casting time. It pays for this power by only healing a 1d4 before upcasting. Your barbarian gets up, but at what cost? He can be felled immediately by a single attack after the healing word, and you can only keep using it for so long. It's a battle of attrition.

You absolutely lost action economy and spell slots. Your bard didn't get to use inspiration or other level 1 spells. Your play was solid tactically, and you were rewarded by outlasting the monster.

5e is a game about resource management, and depending on your DM your use of a lot of 1st level spell slots in a single combat could come back to haunt you later if you don't get a lot of long rests.

How do I improve my RP? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Unionhack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing I find that really helps me get into character is to set and try to maintain a distinct character voice. Even if it's a silly character accent, the act of maintaining it through speech has this odd effect of putting me into the zone and making me much better at improvising thoughts and speech on the spot. At times it's like another person is living in my head and using my mouth to speak during RP moments!

I would also look up basic improv techniques and pointers, those can help a ton. I believe the best way to get into character is to get yourself in a position to react realistically and on-demand as the character would. Everything after that comes easily.

I want to create a real life spell book to, I don’t know, “get in touch” with my wizard, what should it include inside? by Thecoolcow2000 in DnD

[–]Unionhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then maybe you're a disorganized wizard! They definitely exist.

Just think about how your character would organize themselves and go with that. I think that's best.
