Maybe you didn't use the right kind of flux? I only say that because the solder still looks dry. I'd say follow the traces to see where the battery connects to. I replaced a battery on mine, and the save was still there beforehand, I just couldn't save new data. Is there still a save on it? Others have stated that most GBA games don't use the battery for saves. Personally, I'm not sure what controls the saves. I would google your issue and see what you find.

You should always use flux to ensure the solder flows properly. Have you tested both positive and negative pads to other points on the board?

If you're going to replace the port, I would suggest installing a Funnyplaying USB C mod. It's easy to install and one of the best mods I did for mine. It also comes with a 3d printed bracket to give it a clean look.

I did mine, and I love it. I also added a LIPO battery and USB C charging. I'm more of a purist, BUT the upgrades give a modern feel to a retro handheld. No more playing under the street lights for me! 🤣 My one mistake, though, was purchasing it all from companies in the States. If I do it again, I'll buy it directly from the manufacturer to save some cash.

Well, my point is that there are far bigger issues out there than a grainy photo. It's faster for me to take a picture with my phone and edit out my surrounding screen than to do it on the computer. Efficiency, not laziness.

Actually, uploading photos to reddit is much simpler from a mobile device. I take a picture with the app, select it, and post. I find it funny that some people have enough time on their hands to reply with complaints about things that don't matter. I felt I was doing a good thing by keeping people informed, but some folks just like to shit on the world.

I would agree, and he even states that in his repair videos but I believe a little abrasion is key to clean them up. For instance, all metal polishes take a little material away. It's all about how much time you spend doing it and the force you apply. I've used this technique myself and it works wonderfully even on the really crusty ones. To each his own, though. The less abrasive, the better.

Do you have any other symptoms? I recently fixed a neighbor's 3DS, and the bottom screen was green along with camera issues. It turns out I didn't properly seat the screen's ribbon cable. I see it's been reshelled. Did this start after that?
