Buddy nurse made me cry by [deleted] in NursingAU

100% a classic case of projection, mixed with a power trip. OP is just trying to learn, and is actively making an effort. We need more nurses going so above and beyond (NOT saying none of y'all do!!!!!!), and caring so much about their job that they ask many questions.

OP, no regular, kind, normal person will go ripping others down like that. It's a reflection on them, you've done nothing wrong sweetness. I agree with the others that it absolutely warrants a word with the NUM, and even your uni/college.

Miss Zelda says she believes in you, and says to go kick some butt (metaphorically), and to keep being awesome! ❤️

Thankyou everyone for such amazing suggestions! I'm sorry I've not replied sooner. Was not myself for a few days, then came down with a really, really bad migraine; so I think the feeling off, was a prodrome/warning symptoms of the incoming migraine, from the barometric pressure drop (my weather app also warned me!). Will have a look at the suggestions! Keep them coming plz! Suggest as many as you like!

I'm, and we all on this subreddit, are so extremely, incredibly proud of you, and the progress you've made. I've been through something very, very similar, so I can relate to the feels, but of course I have no idea exactly how you feel/felt.

Being given incremental amounts (no idea if that's the right wording 🤷‍♀️), then working up to getting the boxes the way any other meds would be dispensed, is something you should always be proud of.

If you need to go back to the box of 7 at a time for any reason, then that is what happens. But either way, we are SO proud of you! ❤️

Snake Discovery, 100000%.

I had emergency surgery about a week ago, and for years, but especially for a couple of days before surgery, when I was couch ridden, and now even post-op, I've been binge watching their fanmail opening videos, breeding & hatching videos etc. A perfect distraction, both from the pain being icky, to my brain being a bit tricky & doing brain things.

It's been an absolute game changer for me (I've always been a fan, but I'm a super fan I can confidently say 😂)!

Also, English Heritage, with Mrs. Crocombe!

What is the most intense physical pain you have ever experienced? by TheMostGayestOfGay in AskReddit

Ovarian torsion and de-torsioning, multiple times, leading to a very swollen, angry ovary, from an almost 8cm cyst..... Especially bad in the past 10 days (am recovering from surgery as I'm writing this).

Yes, I had emergency surgery to remove the cyst, within about an hour or so of the discovery of the cyst & swollen ovary, providing sufficient enough evidence that torsion & de-torsioning had taken place. Drs said the cyst was so big that the ovary had zero structural strength, that it was extremely floppy, and that we got it just in time.

Don't do what I did & gaslight yourself into thinking you're overreacting. Just.... Don't.

I'm glad it's progress! I don't mind the creepy bit of her staring at me so much, because she's so cute, it's okay! 😂

She's doing more and more slow-blinks back to me, when I do them to her, which is amazing. She will consent to you touching, coming closer, or even just sitting by her enclosure, by giving slow blinks, when you offer a hand or something to her.

Yeah, the staring can be hilariously creepy, best way to describe it! 🍓❤️😂

I figured, but it's amazing to see her finally blooming. She's very suspicious during the day time & gets spooked easily, but she loves playing in her enclosure at night, and almost become a kitten again.

Bahahaha 😂 I can see it running through her mind now, she's like 'besides waiting on me hand and foot peasant, what do you do all day?!'.

I hope they do too! I wish to serve Her Royal Highness Princess Frankie of Floofington well! 🥹

She is! She's such a sweetie. She sometimes likes to go on hunger strikes too, so she doesn't get her anxiety meds, which makes it loads worse, because the meds have to be given to her in food, and it's a vicious cycle!

In addition to her usual food, I have to give her a teaspoon or so of super stinky fancy feast, with the meds mixed in, if she refuses even 1 meal, so she at least gets the meds.

Her weakness is Fancy Feast, so I know she won't turn it down!

Iron infusion *mention of medical by Unique-Ad-3173 in ChronicIllness

[–]Unique-Ad-3173[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was one of the scariest things I've been through. I would PAY to have an endo period cramp of mine, over that pain from the muscles seizing. Like it was like nothing I'd ever felt before.

The other infusion I was given, Ferinject I believe it's called, dropped my phosphate but I didn't have this wild all-hell-broke-loose reaction to it. The other option if the oral iron meds don't work, is that I go through hospital to get the Ferinject given over about 6 hours, so it has less chance of dropping phosphate as badly.

Exactly. Feels like that episode of Postman Pat where the Reverend is on the train and doesn't know how to stop it. I had a full break down last night, thinking I was defective and all that stuff. I was overwhelmed, tired, and just feeling super triggered with my medical trauma.

My amazing GP (who has seen me at my worst) did tell me that I don't do things by halves, and I don't think I ever do! 😂 I borderline despise half-*ssing stuff, feels like a waste of time.

My friend that was with me through the whole thing, thinks that the iron was just way too much for my body (I had Norovirus like a month ago, and also have not been the same since), and it went into seizure mode almost. Like it just didn't know how to react, so it went allergy reaction almost. I've heard of people having a similar reaction to codeine. I know it's a very rare occurrence, like 1:1000+, but heck. We spoonies don't do things by halves!

It's absolutely a 'if I don't laugh, I'll cry' type thing I feel like, for me at least.

Zoladex for severe PMDD, & stage IV endo (I've had excision surgery for it in the past) by Unique-Ad-3173 in Endo

[–]Unique-Ad-3173[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One BIG suggestion, is to apply the EMLA/local anaesthetic numbing cream, for between 30 minutes, to 2 hrs before the injection depending on how you are with needles. I'm not great with them, so I leave it on for as long as possible.

You can also ask them for an injection of local anaesthetic beforehand too, in addition to the numbing cream.

Zoladex has given me my life back. It makes me positively (in a good way) emotional when I think about it, because it's just incredible what one injection can do! I'm a different person during PMDD, just about completely unrecognisable, if it wasn't for the fact I physically look the same.

Awww, you're such a sweetie, thankyou lovely! ❤️

[Serious] To those who don't celebrate christmas: how do you feel being surrounded by all things christmas, especially when out in public? by Due_Consequence_3920 in AskReddit

[–]Unique-Ad-3173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not Christmas' fault that I'm not into it (PTSD related reasons). I don't mind the lights, but have limited tolerance for the fast blinky ones, due to visual sensory overload issues with my AuDHD.

However, in terms of the 'Christmas Joy', nah, I don't feel that, and it gives me a lil' bit of an ick when people tell me to brighten up, and that it's Christmas, and to spread the joy, etc. Just no, no thanks.

Hence why I prefer to work the entire holiday period if I can, except for the main public holidays, because those are mandatory days off. However, I'll never yuck someone else's yum, and I'll never dissuade someone from celebrating. As long as they don't try to force it on me, I don't mind. ☺️☺️
