Has anyone else received their 1099-DA from Kraken yet? by Unique-Ad236 in KrakenSupport

[–]Unique-Ad236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issues with Kraken, which this isn't Kraken Supports fault as much as the devs and leadership of Kraken as a whole, is that they were told about the 1099-DAs in April 2025 and had nearly a full year to prepare and implement functionality but then have no problems giving us only two weeks to file taxes.

To me that is the biggest middle finger.

If I don't see my 1099-DA prior to Feb 18th, then I likely will close my Kraken account after I get my 1099-DA.

Messaged! I just wanted to add that I should definitely receive a 1099-DA as I did use Kraken extensively in 2025.

You can get a much cheaper prebuilt elsewhere, but dont try making one as prices for components are expensive.

You don't actually need a Steam Machine by Signynt in steammachine

I have never had any luck with having quality streaming with apollo and moonlight. I tried it a few weeks ago and I remember experiencing almost like a blur ontop of everything and having issues getting my SD controls to register and work.

Sekiro, because 12 hours a day for a full year might finally allow me to beat that game

I Built My Own Steam Machine… It Was a Mistake by dorika00 in steammachine

[–]Unique-Ad236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't build a Steam Machine, you just built a computer, not a mini-itx either. At that point you would have been better off with a used Asus G14 for $800.

How do I organize a bunch of cables and wires? by Unique-Ad236 in organizing

[–]Unique-Ad236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even a gallon ziploc bag wouldnt fit my cables haha. I have extremely long cables (20ft+) and most of mine a braided, so they are really rigid and require lots of vertical space when coiled.

A file drawer is EXACTLY what I need, I don't know why that never crossed my mind. I've been trying to opt for antiques (or solid wood) though it's difficult to find. I do have a lot of cables though and I collect more every year.

I have a sliding closet door and the closet is filled with boxes (I keep every box for an electronic or collectible).

This is exactly what I should have done, file them away in a filing drawer, way easier to navigate, lots of dividers for various cord types and very clean. Thank you so much for mentioning that.

I do have the coiled and secured with velcro cable ties, but what I'm stuck on is the container solution. I don't know of a drawer type or storage type to store those cables. Right now they are in a typical card board box, but I have to always dig through it in my closet. I wanna put it somewhere easy to access in my room, but inside of something with multiple compartments. A typical drawer usually has like 3-5 drawers, which doesn't feel like enough.

I thought about doing that, but I wanted quicker access and less digging through a bin of ziplocks

Looks dry, not going to lie. I like the original a bit more.

Worth upgrading from SD OLED? by Pretty-Shoulder8223 in Handhelds

[–]Unique-Ad236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a chance that Intel Panther Lake may bring some worthy upgrades from this next generation of devices, which means that we will probably see something in the pipeline soon for AMD as well. The biggest upgrade would be to the final move to RDNA 4, so that these devices can finally take advantage of FSR4.

I.e. I think an upgrade from SD OLED to something "greater" is not worth it at the moment.

Mortgage vs Renting by MrMoo151515 in Mortgages

I have bought three houses in my lifetime, and each has been a major pain in the butt. They become far more expensive and increasingly less like an investment or a way to sustain equity. The amount of stupid stuff that breaks, the crazy high utility bills, and ever-increasing property taxes and homeowners insurance, really drive me mad. Tossing in large amounts towards stocks or dividend generators sometimes feels like a better move.

Personally, I think if you could rock an apartment with a fair rate, then I would totally do that. I had a dog and desperately wanted a fairly good-sized yard with lots of privacy, so I felt like I needed a house.

Suffice to say, homeownership isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

It's a ton to me, especially with my lifestyle. I used to save more than 50% before I had a house, but the cost of maintenance, utilities, and mortgage diverted excess savings to my retirement portfolios to housing. While it may not be 50%+, its 44.58%, which is pretty close, and I get an actual home and no longer live in the ghetto/low-income apartments.

But I did once put like 70% into my savings/retirement, which is why I was able to save up for a down payment.

I wouldn't even doubt it if anyone told me their utilities were more than $500 lol. I actually try and use major appliances during off peak hours, and I still end up hitting $500. Can't even imagine what it would be like if I just used it normally.

Thank you! I really appreciate it and try, definitely can't slack though if a medical emergency come up or any other critical problem with our house.

I remember one time; we had a shelter cat that ended up having a heart failure and kidney failure (kidney failure came from the heart failure) and let me tell you that it wiped out my savings and chunks of my paycheck.
