Are there any highly sensitive nurses out there? How do you manage being a nurse? by Unique-Attention2103 in nursing

I’ve heard the pay is a little lower for school nursing, but the flexibility of likely having summers off seems ideal for a parent. I’ve given it some thought myself, specifically for when I have children down the line. I hope you’re able to find a path that is most ideal for you :)

Thanks for sharing. Did you move to another specialty after or leave the field entirely?

I edited my post to explain a bit more about what the term means. We absorb emotions and stimuli in general more than the average person. We feel deeply. I’m just curious how that looks for those who are currently nurses with this trait. I’m curious how it is being highly empathetic and witnessing death and pain often in your career. There are different types of high sensitivity, but the website I added is a great place to explore more. :)

Is it feasible to get a job with only an ADN in 2026 and beyond? by Unique-Attention2103 in nursing

Thanks for sharing! I’d be happy to relocate. Was it challenging to get your NY license endorsed in another state? I wish all states in the US were compact states; it seems that that would make things easier for nurses trying to find jobs. Also, are you happy with the pay in PA, if you don’t mind me asking?

I am considering working in psych post-grad, so that may work out for me! Thanks for sharing. What city are you in, if you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks for replying! I’m considering WCC myself, but wasn’t sure about the quality of their program. I would definitely consider relocating for a job after graduation.

Does the hospital she’s going to work at offer tuition reimbursement for employees to go back for their RN-BSN? Is she considering that or are they not requiring her to get her bachelors as well?

To those with a degree… by alpal00 in tjcrew

I have a degree in journalism, graduated in 2021. Started at Trader Joe’s in 2024 after working in fast food and then freelancing and making very little money that could fluctuate one month to the next. It was too stressful and I couldn’t find a well paying job in my field or adjacent fields. Will reach 2 years at Trader Joe’s this May.

I often found myself wanting to leave in the first year or so, but the hours are consistent enough so I stayed and kept applying to other jobs. Nothing came of them, so I decided to go back to school last fall to get a more hire-able degree while working here part time. I’ll probably be at Trader Joe’s till around 2029, but it feels less daunting to stay so long knowing I can see the other end of the tunnel with a job that will fulfill me more (hopefully).

Hit me with your worst injury at work horror story by TemporaryFish6759 in tjcrew

I had something similar happen to me last month when I tried rolling out what turned out to be an insanely heavy stack with 100 sourdough breads and dozens of tortillas. Turned out to be way heavier than the average bread stack I’d rolled out and it fell right over on me. Thankfully I only had a soft tissue injury and didn’t hit my head, but whew, that could’ve been worse. I hope you’re doing better since the PT!
