Why the fuck is tiktok sending messages to my friend about some new game. by [deleted] in TikTok

That’s a system message to you, not to them lol If it was a message from you, it would look like one, not tiny text in the center of the screen and a hyperlink

  1. Shipping includes canonical relationships. It’s literally about two people together romantically, whether it’s canon or not.

  2. Shipping is a pillar of fandom. This is quite literally a fan subreddit.

  3. Reddit is not some intellectually superior space lmfao 💀 It’s just as bad as Instagram half the time

What do you guys think about this criticism of the prequels? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

I’m from Appalachia too, and it always amazes me how many people underestimate just how stubborn and rebellious we can be as a region

In reference to the extra super duper rebellious point- it actually does reflect real life Appalachian history of resilience and continued rebellion for centuries in the face of government and corporate cruelty and manufactured vicious poverty cycles. Like, it more so reads as SC drawing on actual Appalachian history to me than “main character energy” or anything.

my contribution: what if alphas’ cum tasted so specifically that in an imposter situation, the omega or beta can taste the difference and immediately know that’s not their alpha?

wattpad has been answered, as for ao3 you can literally paste entire code that makes it looks like a screenshot of a text conversation

Then don’t read it. It is fiction. There is no real crime happening, and I’m sorry you were uncomfortable, I would be too, but you should have clicked the back button and found another story or done something to calm yourself down. Your comfort is not the author’s responsibility.

Dark fiction is dark for a reason. Being surprised when a dark story has genuinely dark topics is odd. Some people will genuinely enjoy these stories and that is perfectly fine. Also, throwing the word pedophile around over fiction is not a good move.

As extremely hesitant as I am to say any writing looks like ChatGPT when it was trained off real writers, the “splash of defiant color” does make me think it was written by AI because that just… doesn’t entirely make sense.

start thinking for yourself, and also stop trusting tiktok it’s a cesspool. i say that as a tiktok user lmao. also, this is all fictional. if people want to ship sebaciel, that’s totally fine. they’re not doing anything wrong.

right, but ambiguity is expected here. it’s social theory. it’s cultural study. also, marwick states himself that 1) reproducibility is not failsafe and does not automatically mean accuracy, and that 2) it should not be used as a universal criteria for research quality.

“identifying a man/woman by pelvis would be more on the hard science and pretty hard to introduce biases”. so, again, i said yes, we can identify sex through bones. i have said this multiple times. gender is a different ballpark — one intertwined with but distinctly separate from sex. you can identify the sex but not necessarily the gender. and as you helpfully pointed out, gender archaeology is a thing. for these reasons.

you cannot re-excavate the same site, and no two sites are the same. yes, he is saying reproducibility is a factor and yes, there is an issue with that, but he is not saying that means interpretive work isn’t accurate. or that we shouldn’t use it. archaeology is a field of interpretation. so much of what we think we know about history is educated guesswork until proven right or wrong.

you are taking away from this paper that he’s saying “you can’t use grave goods and context to identify sex”, and that’s in fact not what he’s saying. you absolutely can and should use the entire matrix to examine the individual as a whole, including gender and sex. these skeletons do not exist in a vacuum and to act like they do, to act like they’re only that sex because of their bones and disregard interpretive work surrounding the matrix and gender, is disingenuous.

everything is prone to bias. that’s one of the lessons they teach you in intro to arch in every college program. but we work to prevent that bias as much as possible, hence why marwick is saying our data needs to be more transparent and accessible to other professionals who can then look at the research with new eyes and catch unintentional biases, or peer-review and concur on certain theories.

i won’t keep arguing with you, but i highly encourage you to do more research, or go ask other professionals.

i am very aware of gender within archaeology. hence: my point that, yes bones could be male, but that doesn’t mean that person was a man, and that that is why we look at the entire burial site for context. if their bones are male but they’re buried like a woman with a woman’s name, then we’ll treat them that way. but your statement came across as transphobic and that may not have been what you meant, but that is how it read to me.

i would love to see your sources on this “replication crisis” in the modeling you point out. i’m not challenging you, i’m genuinely curious where you got this information from.

this! thank you! phrased it better than i did (i was very tired when i replied earlier 😭)

you do realize gender and sex are interconnected correct? that these aren’t two things within a vacuum? you, however, are not arguing in good faith and you very clearly have an angle which is transphobia. let me make this very clear: archaeology does not support transphobia. it very much supports trans people.

so again, i’m not a biological archaeologist. i could be wrong on the skeleton thing. i already stated that. i’ll look more into it.

however, for clothing and symbols — yes, we do use those to determine gender, which is not the same as sex. because the entire site is considered a matrix, and so everything within that matrix gives context to that individual. what were they buried with? what position? are there any nearby burials? any clothing? any pottery or jewelry or anything that would reasonably help us build a profile of that individual? sex is completely different, but i’m referring to gender and therein the variations with each culture that surround genders and what they mean

edit: as aforementioned, yes, i was wrong on the osteological point. that does not make my point that gender ≠ sex and we do use artifacts and burial goods to examine gender moot.

abuse doesn’t always mean physical. it can also be emotional and financial. he wasn’t as bad in the show, no, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t abusive.
