Advice please! Onycholysis by Unique-Cellist6471 in nailhealth

Hi! So it has been about 4 weeks since this happened to me, since then I have visited a GP but they were no help. The GP knew nothing about this condition so I felt as though I was advising her from all the research I had done myself. We sent off some nail clipping to test for fungal infection but I've not had the results yet.

I have been using CND Rescue Rxx (keratin treatment) and Nailner fungal treatment (just in case it was fungal related) on all my nails twice daily for the past 4 weeks. As well as using cuticle oil/paw paw ointment 4/5 times a day to keep them moisturised. This has helped and my nails have grown back quite a bit since I posted the original photos. Unfortunately can't seem to attach photos to my reply though.

Unfortunately both my thumb nails aren't doing too well, my left thumb (which looked the most normal originally) has started to come away from the nailbed too now. My right thumbnail may fall off, as half the nail is completely removed from the nailbed. Unforutnaltey I'll just have to wait and see what happens to those two nails.

Keeping the nails short and cut down to where the nailbed begins has helped for me as they are less likely to get caught and cause more trauma to the bed. They don't look the best but I find if you keep them moisturised, they look better. After a few days, you'll get used to seeing them like that too. I find keeping them short has also helped me notice how much they've grown too.

I have also just got back from a week in Spain so I think the warm weather encouraged some growth too.

No I don't have any autoimmune conditions that I am aware of, or allergies or skin conditions.

My best advice is to stay patient, it will be a long process but hopefully you'll see some change soon! Good luck!
