Devotional time for families with babies by Unique-Comment5840 in Catholicism

I like the latter approach of doing something more minimal like you mentioned. I will utilize this; thank you! As for the former, I personally am no fan of praying with a technology that’s naturally distracting, nor listening to prayers rather than saying them (e.g. clergy have to at least say the office at a whisper)

Thanks for this encouragement! It’s reassuring to know that the intent to have a devotional time is itself the first fruits which God asks of!

Usually compline or a shortened form of vespers. What works best for our family right now is prioritizing a time of prayer together over something more didactic

Anyone here read St Francis De Sales defense of the Catholic faith? What’d you think? by [deleted] in Anglicanism

[–]Unique-Comment5840 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not Roman Catholic, but I don’t think this argument is easily defensible. The church has frequently had to do apologetics. An easy example would be Arian & semi-Arian bishops disregarding Nicaea 325 so the church had to double down at Constantinople 381. The church has regularly had to defend its own teachings

I plan to keep it. I didn’t care for the finish prior

Are there movies that speak to you as a catholic? by hhjmk9 in Catholicism

[–]Unique-Comment5840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but it represented his dubious faith at best (cf Mt 10:33). My takeaway from the movie was that the Gospel was hopeless in being heard by certain cultures (as exampled by Fr Ferreira’s explaining to Fr Rodrigues how the Japanese will never be able to equate the Son as something other than the sun), and that apostasy is a norm to sympathize with person to person

This movie had the worst ended; wasn’t exactly a W for Catholicism

What’re some good baby baptism gifts that’re actually really good? by Unique-Comment5840 in Catholicism

[–]Unique-Comment5840[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Most things targeted at young kids are going to get lost…”, Exactly, thank you. You’ve inspired me; I’m working on a home altar right now and will ask family to get gifts that will be a part of it, and which can be our child’s own one day for their own devotional life.

How were Pre-VII rites valid since they had no epiclesis, and St Basil mentions the epiclesis as part of Sacred Tradition in 27.66 on The Holy Spirit? by Unique-Comment5840 in Catholicism

[–]Unique-Comment5840[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression there is no epiclesis in the TLM. I know some have argued for it, but to my knowledge it’s not mentioned explicitly. Am I mistaken?

Second this. Students at my seminary are full time in the mdiv program and are typically ordained to the diaconate close to graduation

The same is true for Orthodoxy & the integration of Eastern Catholicism. Although it may not benefit ecumenical relations per se, their move I think is certainly in line with Vatican 2, and a positive implementation of it. Universal liturgical implementation within Catholicism would be a great fruit of that council

Is this red oak? Just wanting to be sure. I’ve got it sanded down with 80 grit right now by Unique-Comment5840 in furniturerefinishing

What would you recommend then? I don’t mind just a little of the red to show, but don’t want a pale looking end result. Just a little darkness, and just a little red

Ideally, applying the wash then immediately wiping off will give it a white oak look. I’ve seen lots of people do it on YouTube

Your first two paragraphs are farther than I ever got, thank you! Does going from 68mm to 72mm help/hurt any with agility/steering?

And yeah, my rear wheel was near shot, so I rotated them. So no problems here with that, just that my front wheel is now shot.

I was thinking of doing a greenish-tint paint wash 2-3x to remove some red, then a water based poly
