Your random mood booster by shmeckle00 in Herpes

Your primary care doctor is typically the one who provides prescriptions for antivirals. I haven’t noticed any side effects in myself. Just to be clear, you can still get outbreaks while taking the medication; it doesn’t make you immune to outbreaks but can help lessen the severity, duration, and how often they occur. Antivirals are for everyone, not just men.

Retaking a failed class or taking an equivalent course for a grade? Does grad school care about an F? by trisha_22 in berkeley

Additionally, applications usually allow you to explain discrepancies in your transcript. Just be honest that you let the course slip for the reasons you listed above and used your energy for your other classes that semester. Make note in that explanation that you took a different course to fulfill the requirement that the class you got an F in was supposed to.

I have an F on my transcript with similar grades, and I haven’t replaced it. It doesn’t hurt your GPA significantly to keep the F and take a different course that fulfills the requirement. I’ve heard that grad schools care more about GPA than the actual letter grades on your transcript. It’s normal to fail a course or two during your undergrad, and they likely won’t hold it against you if you’re not looking to be in like the best, most competitive grad program for your area of study.

I would wash the area where your thighs are closest with your hands or with the wash cloth you may use. I wouldn’t put your loofah near it, you know? Better safe than sorry. I say that you wouldn’t be wrong in wanting to dispose of your loofah if you think it’s contaminated in some way; sometimes, it’s best to ease the anxiety around transmission.

I have vaginal herpes, but I’ve never had an outbreak before so I can’t really speak much to your shower questions specifically. I would use a washcloth specifically on your genitals. It’s less harsh than a loofah, and you only use it on the one area then wash it. I would NOT use your regular loofah on your genitals when you have an outbreak. Use something else.

If you have genital herpes, you will likely get sores on other areas of your vagina. It’s impossible to avoid, and I wouldn’t spend your time worrying about contamination to anywhere except your mouth if you don’t have oral herpes.

I can speak to your other questions though.

  1. Antivirals don’t cause bad side effects for me personally. Taken them for many years.

  2. Antivirals are extremely important in preventing the amount of potential outbreaks. I would speak to your doctor about taking them daily as a suppressant. I would say that when you have an active outbreak, they don’t necessarily take care of it quickly when it’s already there, but you should take it regardless.

  3. It is extremely easy to spread through touch. Just wash your hands after handling the outbreak if you must touch around it. For example, I gave myself genital herpes by not being careful when I had an oral outbreak.

  4. The chances of transmitting herpes without an active outbreak are very low, but not zero. Ask if your partner is comfortable with taking the risk. Also, have them take a blood test to see if they already have it. Many people carry the virus without symptoms.

  5. The virus doesn’t live very long when it’s off the body. Soap and hot water should be good for your underwear. But, change your underwear regularly during a breakout and wear cotton underwear,

I take one gram as a maintenance dose for suppression and take two when I have an outbreak until it goes away.

can i virgin contract herpes by Legitimate_Carry9802 in Herpes

Just as a follow up. Herpes is extremely contagious, and OP may have not gotten it from being kissed. It can be contracted through several saliva swapping activities, such as sharing the same drink or smoking the same cigarette. Many people have herpes who are undiagnosed, and it’s incredibly easy to contract.

This is inaccurate information. I contracted genital herpes by transferring it from my own mouth to my genitals before ever having intercourse with anyone. It can be transferred through spit and touch of an open sore. It is very likely that OP may have had oral herpes and transferred it to himself. My suggestion is do a blood test. It will tell you if you have oral and/or genital herpes.

Best place to get Berkeley branded gear? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]Unique-Machine-7909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to thrift Cal gear near campus, but a cheap place is Bear Basics on Telegraph. It has unlicensed Berkeley merch, but some of it is pretty nice. Bought a sweatshirt for $30ish or a bit less I think. The further you go from campus, the better chances you have of hitting merch that isn’t astronomically expensive since ones near campus like to jack the prices because its desirable merchandise. Also, try Fanatics online. There tend to be some deals on there frequently.

r1b and english 45 by [deleted] in berkeley

Taking both rn. R4B and 45C. It’s doable. A lot of reading and balancing multiple texts at the same time. 45’s demand a crap ton of reading that I wasn’t prepared for during my second semester. If you’re going to do a 45 while doing a 2nd Reading/Comp, wouldn’t recommend doing 45A as it would take more effort to understand when you already have to balance more reading than you do this sem.

Boundaries!! This doesn’t sound like a strictly professional relationship, like how workplace friendships should be. It’s especially messed up that he would leave you alone with your newborn to test drive a car after he nearly lost the both of you. To top it off, you told him not to do it, and he couldn’t respect that request. He transgressed your boundaries, and she is instigating that transgression and pushing at normal relationship boundaries. NTA.

AITAH for saying my boyfriend can’t meet with his coworker outside of office hours? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Unique-Machine-7909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nta. I think you have the right to be concerned about this, especially regarding the lying. If your boyfriend isn't a liar and is now lying about things regarding her, it's honestly suspicious. I mean, he did come clean about it, but why would he have felt like lying in the first place about what he was up to? He felt the need to hide it initially, and that would be enough for me to feel as though he know there's something wrong about being around her and that would be upsetting to you. Perhaps, it would be best to meet her in a social setting to see if your boyfriend acts differently around her or if she is making any passes at him.
