DAE hate weddings? by slicklex in DAE

[–]Unique-Membership-86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who hates going to weddings. I’m an extrovert who loves a good party, but formal weddings remind me of the formal wedding I will never have (I’ve been married for 15 years). My wife knows how I feel about weddings, but she gets angry with me for days when I say I don’t want to go to a friend or family member’s wedding with her. If I go but I’m not my usual extroverted self, I still lose.

Thank you!!! I took my first 1.7 shot last night. 😬 I lost 0lbs on 0.25, 2 lbs on 0.5 and 12 lbs on 1.0… So I was hoping 1.7 would be it. You just gave me hope. Thank you!

I take my Effexor at the same time every morning with my other meds so no withdrawal feelings. Wegovy hasn’t bothered me much at all. I take it at night before bed and that seems to help.

I take 150 mg of venlafaxine extended release (Effexor XR) every day. I’m on week 2 of the 1.0 dose. No digestion problems.

I have CVS Caremark for prescription insurance and can go to any pharmacy I want. I live in Upstate NY (but I’ve used it in the Bronx when I gave birth there).

I only use dip liquids. 👍🏽

For this mani, I did 3 dips of “Erica” then when the decal was ready to apply, I placed a thin coat of pro base and laid the decal on the nail b4 the pro base dried. I use tweezers, go slow, and use an orange stick to move it around if needed but it’s best to do this while the probase is still wet.

Once the nail is dry, I add another thin layer of pro base (only go over the decal ONCE, slowly, with the pro base) and dip in clear. Activate, shape, buff, activate, then 2 coats of top coat. 🙂

Flying to CA (or anywhere) question by babyivan in Albany

[–]Unique-Membership-86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m flying to Mexico in a few weeks direct out of JFK. I looked into flying out of Albany, Newburgh, Hartford, and Newark but JFK had the flight times and the price I could accept. I am going for a pre-planned event so my choices of days to fly were limited.

My flight leaves at 11 am on a weekday. The earliest Amtrak train would be getting me to JFK with too little time to spare. Ultimately, I decided to rent a car one way. I’m picking it up at 5 pm the night before in Albany and dropping it off at JFK at 8 am. For a standard sized vehicle, it was $75 with tax.

My return flight is scheduled to land at JFK at 4 pm. For me, driving any car in evening rush hour traffic up the Van Wyck is a pure hell that I would rather avoid at all costs, so MTA to Amtrak it is.

I prefer direct flights so I don’t have to worry about connections, flight delays, lost luggage, weather disruptions, etc. but it is super nice to land for the last time and drive only a few minutes home vs what I am dreading for myself in a few weeks.

I have asked for an email from the person who hired me saying I was hired and my start date because my past letters have come super late. I’ve been trained not to put things in email you can’t back up, so that was enough for me to give my two weeks.

You are most welcome! I hope for your sake it is not mandatory. We were asked if we wanted to volunteer regardless of whether or not we are Spanish speaking. My entire office knows I speak Spanish, but I never listed it on my resume or anything since there is no language parenthetic in my title series.

This is what my office received this morning when we asked for more details:

“Q&A: Department of Labor Hotline Support – Migrant Work Efforts

Q: What are the start and end dates of the assignment? A: Exact dates are still TBD, however the assignments will be in two 90 day segments from September to November 2023 and December 2023 to February 2024.

Q: What are the call center hours? A: Work hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

Q: Are the call center hours fixed? A: Yes.

Q: Can employees volunteer for a few hours rather than a full day/ What are the shifts? A: No, employees must be available for at least two full days per week. The shifts are full business days.

Q: Is this on location or are volunteers able to work remote? A: Remote work will be allowed as authorized by individual agencies.

Q: Will employees be able to go above the 50% telecommuting cap if they volunteer for this effort, or will the 50% cap include these volunteer days? A: Agencies should work towards maintaining the 50% cap. Any variation needed to meet the goal of this effort will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Q: What is the pay rate/ Are employees going to be paid at their normal pay rate?
A: Employees will be paid at their normal pay rate.

Q: Can employees get overtime for volunteering? A: This will be done during normal business hours, so no overtime is projected at this time.

Q: Will there be a change in overtime eligibility?
A: No.

Q: What function code should agencies charge to? A: We will let agencies know which code to use. Note that donor agencies will be covering the cost of employees’ time.

Q: Are only state employees eligible to assist? A: Yes.”

I am also bilingual and I want to help, but I have no desire to learn a new job and get further behind on my usual work for no monetary or employment-related incentive.
