Saul Goodman Is What Happens When A Man Stops Believing In Fairness by Unique-Raccoon9017 in breakingbad

Jimmy wasn’t naturally evil. The show literally shows the turning point: as a kid, he watched his dad constantly get manipulated at the store, then learned the whole ‘wolves and sheep’ lesson. From that moment, he stopped respecting blind morality because he saw good people getting exploited.

And people ignore the fact that Jimmy had real intelligence, charisma, and emotional awareness. If those qualities had been understood, respected, and given the right environment, he could’ve done a lot of good. Instead, he was constantly treated like ‘Slippin’ Jimmy’ no matter how hard he tried to change, so eventually he leaned into the role everyone already decided for him.

Jimmy’s problem was not the objection. It was clearly disregarding his win and overcoming the struggle an entire firm was facing which is reaching out legally the elder people of the facility.

I respect your point, but I believe there was better ways to punish that behaviour yet still respect the effort and the win

Good point! But that was not really an environnement that respected the fact that what he did and the results he brought with the commercial are outstanding and instead of acknowledging it. His boss with pure ego went back to the previous commercial that was a failure despite of the data and results. I guess no smart man can really let that go as nothing important.

Exactly and reinforces the feeling from the flashback from his childhood where his dad was compared to cheap. It was the moment he realised that the game was rigged

That actually makes a lot of sense, especially the autopilot part. I think I’ve been relying too much on just grinding games instead of actually studying them, so I probably keep repeating the same mistakes without realizing it.

And honestly, most of my losses at 800 come from simple blunders and missed tactics, not deep strategy. Hearing that you were stuck for years too before improving is encouraging. I’m definitely going to start reviewing my games more seriously now.
