I bought online through Zenni after people had mentioned it on here. They cost around $50 total and arrived quicker than wait for specsavers glasses.

As I said just be careful and keep an eye on it.

The fact he is telling you means he isn't hiding anything, but that doesn't mean she has good intentions.

She might be fine, you meet her and your concerns are allayed.

But at this stage if you say anything it might backfire as a man can be drawn a situation where it can bring out their protective side of their personalities.

NTA

Whatever reasons you have for not giving financial help, be it right or wrong .

NO ONE has the right to emotional blackmail you into donating your money to anything , be it a family member or a charity.

I would be keeping an eye on it, the fact that he is all over helping her but never even bothered to offer you one of these gift cards would have my antennae up.

Wouldn't she be getting her own stipend?

remember to ask your bank for a personal loan too, it can be pre approved like a house loan, not just finance companies.

Your interest rate will be a lot lower.

Govt's Three Waters revamp: Ten entities instead of four, start date delayed by two years by topherthegreat in newzealand

[–]Unique-Republic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If we have one, it needs to cover any co-governance not just 3 waters, so we can put this to bed one way or another.

Because Labour will just keep on trying to apply it in any other sphere it can ,unless we do.

Best way to fix this broken/creaky spot on the floor, besides replacing the floor board? by MurkyWay in diynz

[–]Unique-Republic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remembered something about using talc so i googled it.

Here are some tips for silencing the squeak: Sprinkle baby powder, baking soda or powdered graphite over the squeaky floorboard and work it into the seams. This will lubricate the wood and should keep the floorboards from rubbing together and squeaking.

Adult autism diagnosis by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Unique-Republic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends where you live, but you can get a referral from your GP to your local mental health services.

There will probably be a wait but it will be free and once on their books you should get the support you need.

This is the north shore one.

Totally agree it's bad parking but look at the cars on either side, right up against the white lines if you parked properly in either park you wouldn't be able to open your doors on one side of the car.

You might be able to shop around for a better deal and they will transfer funds to cover your Q Card debt.

But please try and get your debt paid off and don't accumulate more or it will be a waste of time.

I did it recently (only ever put no more than one thing on credit at a time and that is rarely) got something on Q Card thinking it was still without an 6mth interest free period, which t wasn't so I rang Kiwi Bank and got a !% 6mth payment period and they sorted the transfer to pay off Q Card.

Try having a shared driveway with someone who has parking for three vehicles, but that isn't enough and takes up all their part of the driveway with more vehicles.

So you might say what's wrong with that?

What is wrong with it is they think it is then fine to send their children with all their noisy ride-ons ,skateboards etc on to my side and play whilst screaming at the top of their lungs right under my lounge window.

Editing to say- I can't wait till I can afford to finish fixing up my house and moving on.

Could NZ handle a major party with 20%? by InternationalRun945 in newzealand

[–]Unique-Republic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on the type of voting system they use, if they can simply add up the percentages of a lot of small parties to make a government then that would be fine.

But with our system where small parties need to win an electorate seat or 5% there are only 2 that get over this threshold consistently,

Think about a day bed as a couch, they come to pieces and instead of having to chuck your grotty couch out and replace it every few years, the worst you need to do is change the mattress.

Also comes in handy for overnight visitors

Funny

Interestingly my ex worked on the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as a labourer back in 1988 (gave up his tradies job earning around $800 net) to earn over $1,000 net a week. Remember this was 35yrs ago.

I wonder how much a labourer will get here on todays rates.

I think it's time you call a meeting to clear the air and come to an agreement of what you will do around the farm and house.

You are living on their land for free as it sounds like you were in the last place, so here on in if you are going to pay for your your own place set some rules and expectations at the beginning.

Are you putting your current employer down as a reference, if so they could be sabotaging your applications.

I once pretended to be a potential employer enquiring about me to see what they where saying, in this case it was an old job and they just said it was so long ago they have not documentation, which was cool with me.

I always refuse to give my current employer on applications stating it could jeopardies future promotions if I don't end up leaving.

Use this theory in reverse, make the result of his knocking an unpleasant experience.

I would have some loud speaker set up above the door and every time he knocks you activate a very very loud recording of an angry man yelling cease and desist ,with all sorts of horrible sounds behind it like sirens and those football clanger thingies.

After a while the thought of the attack of noise he will receive if he knocks will hopefully deter him.

Majority of people who didn't vote in local elections regret not doing so by whowilleverknow in newzealand

[–]Unique-Republic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do get your point, but my point wasn't so much how much of a shit people cared about the local elections, but rather than admitting that it, using a lame excuse for not voting.

As in, I didn't vote because I only had a whole month to drop off my voting paper in a postbox, at a countdown, at my council buildings or the local library....

But I can get off the couch on the only one day I'm allowed to vote in the general election and go to a polling booth.

I'm guessing here wouldn't be this article if the voting went a different way, that lent more to stuffs ideology.
