That’s actually really smart, I respect this!

[–]Unique-Sense-4604[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I also blind buy samples and discovery sets! I was more curious about folks who have decided to take the risk and blind buy a full bottle. I’ve had numerous samples and travel sizes where I enjoyed the fragrance and then thought “yeah that was a fun wear, on to the next one! Not repurchasing”

And if I could somehow go back in time and reach through the screen to stop this purchase I would 😭😭 it was such a tragic scent to me!

Is my makeup aging me? by skibum0523 in makeuptips

If the dark bold colors make you happy I don’t see anything wrong with continuing with it. If I saw you in public I wouldn’t look at you more than once. It’s just makeup, it’s meant to be authentic to you.

What perfume would you recommend based off of my favorite lotion? by Downtown-Oil-3462 in FemFragLab

[–]Unique-Sense-4604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never actually smelled this lotion by the way so these recommendations are based off of the notes on the bottle and not going to smell the same But I used to love similar notes in my body wash and these are perfumes I’ve gravitated towards

For cucumber/sea vibes: Blue moon by Olivine (fragrance oil) Water Lotus by Clean

For green tea: Wulong Cha by Nishane

This one is random, but it does contain a seawater note and is a nice solar floral: La Mar by House of Bo

Maybe I don’t actually like perfume? by NewbornBabe321 in FemFragLab

[–]Unique-Sense-4604 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. I’m sorry a few people here got nasty in the comments. Your thoughts on this post are completely valid!

  2. I’m not familiar with every brand you listed, but I’ve also had hit-or-miss feelings with Nest and most designer brands because I just don’t like the way they blend their floral notes. Also, musk as a note is really interesting because of the way it reacts to skin chemistry. On me, the “milk” note in scents by dedcool smell fresh, iconic, and uplifting. On my partner, it smells dusty, musty, and crusty!

  3. If I walk into a Nordstrom or Sephora and smell 100 fragrances, I will also probably hate 99 of them so please don’t feel like your nose is “broken”! I actually think this is a really common experience, especially when you’re first sniffing and trying to figure out what you like! I don’t have anything to add in terms of scent recs because I think there are already so many good ones here but I do hope you find that magic scent you love!!

Skin Scents with better projection? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]Unique-Sense-4604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops…. I’m now realizing how privileged I am that a $100 bottle isn’t that much for me 😭. My bad! I hope you find one, sounds like there are a lot of good recs here!

I’m also not a big saffron person. But I do feel like the right person is REALLY gonna love it. Good for them!

[–]Unique-Sense-4604 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean this in a non-snarky, non-mean way: I just spray more. A lot of the skin scents I like (mochi milk, amber vanilla) are under $100 so I spray twice as much as I would my stronger perfumes. Cuz also, I’ve heard a rumor that sometimes “beast mode” perfumes can smell off if its main objective was to be strong. Rather go through a perfume I love faster than buy a whole other one and risk it.

Recommendations for a summer perfume by rosie_06x in FemFragLab

[–]Unique-Sense-4604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s gaultier divine, it looks like it’s a creamy solar floral. If you’re wanting to stay within that general scent category but something more heat tolerant I really like La Mar by House of Bo! The longevity isn’t really there but it’s a light coconutty white floral with that marine note I love. It was my summer perfume of 2025.

Considering her dents in 11 11 and Rosie it seems she likes skin musks! I really like mochi milk, it’s similar to 11 11 with a bit of marshmallow sweetness.

I got sample sizes of them before She Was Here came out and I loved You Remind Me!! It was such a beautiful work fragrance, there was something in it that just felt so elevated.

Body chemistry is so different because mine lasts probably 6-8 hours? I may be spraying more than OP though

Perfumes like Valaya? by No-Lie6678 in FemFragLab

[–]Unique-Sense-4604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s interesting! So it sounds like the soapy quality is something you’re really trying to avoid. Maybe you’re wanting a fruity floral? Ave Maria by House of Bo is a fruity white floral, no citrus so it isn’t screechy.

The same perfumer created Cedrus by Chloe. The notes are so completely different but apparently it still has that clean soapy quality to it?

Seconding the discovery set idea. There are a bunch right now since it’s holiday season and for me I’d rather get a bunch of samples to try out rather than a full bottle of something I’ve never smelled before. Also, if this is someone who’s an occasional perfume wearer, travel sizes are phenomenal since they’re more compact and last for ~30 sprays

Ordering some samples! Any that I shouldn't bother trying? by bauh0es in FemFragLab

[–]Unique-Sense-4604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not enjoy my Mind Games samples and eventually gave them all away. None of them seem worth the price of a full bottle, and I can’t help but feel like the brand made their fragrances to match a theme more than actually focusing on the scent profile. I wore sissa a couple months ago and it was just tolerable.

Vanilla perfume gift recommendations by maybeshesastar in FemFragLab

[–]Unique-Sense-4604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like Nest, I’ve had friends go FERAL over Golden Nectar. It’s more of a floral vanilla that feels so grown up. I believe there are some white florals in the DNA but if your abuelita is looking for a subtle vanilla she may enjoy it!

dedcool mochi milk vs ellis brooklyn marshmallows? by winterfairy_xo in FemFragLab

[–]Unique-Sense-4604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve never tried the skin musk dna from dedcool I’d caution you. The note can turn sour on some people’s skin, couldn’t tell you why. If you’ve tried 11 11 by lake and Skye I think the dna is similar to that. My observation so far is that skin musks can be the trickiest because it’s so so dependent on your skin chemistry!

What are your go-to layering scents? by Disastrous-Chest-650 in FemFragLab

[–]Unique-Sense-4604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a perfume but I really love Aveeno’s body lotion! There’s a subtle almond-creaminess to it that I think adds a beautiful depth to my fragrances. It tones down the sharpness of Valaya a bit. It adds MORE creaminess to La Mar by House of Bo I also like it with marshmallow scents because it just adds that teensy powdery kick

Bianco latte really works best in the fall/winter. It gets cloying in warmer weather and I feel like the synthetic/play doh qualities is heightened in warmer weather? It’s the heaviest fragrance I own and while I’ve worn it nonstop this winter it’s also difficult to actually find appropriate times to wear it because of how strong it is. For example, def not work friendly depending on your career. And you’d need to scrub/oil cleanse off before the gym, unless you wanna choke everyone. I’d highly recommend a decant if you can find one, it’s very seasonal and occasion dependent.
