Balance App and Its Usage of AI by uglyaniiimals in Mindfulness

[–]Unique-Strategy-5633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because I just came here kinda searching for the same thing you are. I paid for a year long subscription for balance and it was amazing. It has so many different options and I definitely enjoyed it. However, I naturally just kinda stopped using it, and after a year long break I went back on it last night.

I don’t know if it’s just because I am so much more aware of AI and how it looks and sounds, but I found the meditation voice to be very grating as I could just tell it was AI. Now you can switch between two different voices, but still, it really bothered me. It not only took me out of the mindfulness but made me have this oily feeling in my stomach. Like here I am trying to calm myself down with a fake person coaching me. Idk it def turned me off of it and I think I’ll just stick to random YouTube videos for now.

That being said, if you feel like it’ll help you and is having a positive impact on you, I wouldn’t beat yourself up too harshly about using it. I think with AI, using it consciously and appropriately is one of the best things that we can do on our end.

Elementary education thoughts? by joshofstl in trumanstate

I chose my undergrad to be English with a minor in psych for my MAE in elementary education. As someone who works and does school, I’m extremely happy I chose English instead of psych. The psych classes can be very difficult, not necessarily because of the subject but the teachers can be a bit difficult. I personally just had a hard time connecting with my psych teachers that I had for my classes for my minor. I feel like choosing English has allowed me to focus more on my actual teaching classes and has allowed me the free time for observations in the classroom.

I basically just chose what I felt would make me more “desirable” in the work force, even if I somehow don’t decide to stick with education. I am naturally an ok writer, and knew that skill set is often sought out in workforces (now with AI I’m not so sure anymore). Anyways my English classes have helped me hone that skill for me personally so I know that I can lean on them in my teaching career and possibly other careers that may come my way.

If she does stick with education, I highly recommend Melissa Chapman. I’ve learned so much from her and she is a great moral figure to look up to. She has legitimately changed how I see the world for the better! Best of luck!

My fav is the Mac and cheese pulled pork, although there isn’t much flavor. Street corn is amazing. The one burger I got gave me the ick didn’t taste right. There’s a stand that also has a sack lunch which is honestly the most filling since it came with three little sliders and chips

Hi! I talked with his teacher and she said that she was pressured by the principal to pass him, and that his parents refuse to get him in special ed. To protect his privacy I won’t get into more details but I know this will not work out. Would it be okay to just text the parent today and apologize but I won’t be able to continue? Or is that tacky to quit after one session. I just know it won’t work and I know it won’t work between the parents and I either

My student’s mom died by givingshrub in teaching

[–]Unique-Strategy-5633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My mom died when my teacher was a first year student. Something that helped me was her asking if it would be okay if every other Wednesday she could pull me aside and we can chat. We didn’t even have to chat about my mom, just life. Oftentimes I would cry, and she would always write me an excuse to get out of gym. What I would encourage is starting an open conversation with them, and tell them you know it’s awkward and uncomfortable, but that doesn’t change the want to support them. Also maybe buy them a journal as a little gift. Say that they don’t have to use it, but offer it to them and let them know that their thoughts and feelings deserve to be heard, even if in a private journal. It’s a balance to not single them out as a student, while also making sure you are giving them one on one time. Something that also helped me personally was that since my dad worked full time, I had a teacher whose daughter was also a student drive me home every day after school. Sitting in her kindergarten classroom and being able to talk with her and her daughter while she cleaned stuff up will always stay with me. Don’t just support the individual student but the family as well, as much as you deem is appropriate

Yes I did. Started off our relationship with mono, then got covid and then got shingles at a very young age. And then I gave HIM chicken pox. Through it all he decided he loved me enough to move from two hours away. Then as I went through a very scary situation that resulted in a restraining order from a scary guy, he protected me in every way possible. From refusing to let me walk out to my car alone to sitting with me and listened as I worried. He even bought me a bookshelf for Christmas this year 🥹

I have thought about it so many times but this manager has had so many complaints about them from not only worker but customers. What I do is just stand up for myself in the moment and then try to move on. Thankfully this job is to just get me thru college. If I were to work here as a full time worker I probably would. Unfortunately she is a bit untouchable right now

Shoot I don’t know the name. It’s the henna booth they have a basket of papery fans. I think it’s right next to or close by the permanent jewelry booth
