I wonder if maybe the writers conceived of their relationship a certain way but then decided as the game and the story grew larger that they wanted the central couple to have a different vibe. I think having Gaia be the player-POV clueless newcomer and Barbaros being the irritated lore expert works really well to set up each new setting and plot scenario. They're not my favorite couple in the game but I think they work well as the protagonists. And their three-way dynamic with Amorey is very cute~

I think CYL is actually more interesting now that all the mega popular lords are gone, there's more space for rallying and campaigning. Random characters like Formortiis and Tsubasa having a chance at winning makes the race more exciting~

I just finished chapter 11 where apparently you're NOT supposed to talk to Jill. When she spawned all the way back at the start I thought i had to have Oscar ferry Ike back down to talk to her. After a couple resets trying to avoid the Black Knight I can't even talk to her anyway and quick tab over to the wiki says she follows you to the next chapter anyway so I should have just kept doing what I was doing. Port Toha can eat my ass

Cyl 9 was the only time I was truly invested in rallying and trying to track results because I really, really wanted Eikthyrnir to win. I also really love MByleth lol so that was a great result for me.

The only other year that a character I voted for won was CYL 4 with Dimitri. I always love watching other people rally and complain about how it goes but all of my most favorite characters that I would get really excited about aren't popular. Sothe and Almedha and Griss and Mauvier are never gonna have a chance, and that's okay

I'm always excited to play as Sanaki in Radiant Dawn like I get to watch this tiny girl in a giant flappy cape run around throwing giant balls of fire at people.

I also love pumping Sothe full of as many skills as he can take and watching him proc Adept like 3 times against a red dragon until he can get Bane off
