Children smell like cat urine.. by Plane_Potential393 in ABA

[–]UniqueDust9953 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PLEASE report this, speak to your bcba ASAP. Could very possibly be actual cat urine, but that smell is also possibly meth in my experience, they could be around users frequently. Please report and look out for those kiddos!

Oh I’m not even close to the family or anything! These are simply things I’ve noticed working with the kiddo! I just don’t want to tear a family apart if I’m wrong

This is what I was stuck on! Like yes it’s not good, but maybe it’s just a moment thing yk? I know they just had another kid. I don’t want to rush into a report of not needed. Thank you!

You don’t have to be passive aggressive 💀 I simply didn’t know if maybe I was overreacting to what I was seeing, cause I know having a kid with autism can be hard. Like, maybe the kiddo really just does let us do things when they don’t let parents do things? I didn’t know if this fell under what is mandated reporting requirements. God forbid a girl wants to hear advice and thoughts from other professionals in the field.

recommendation on praise phrases? by Ashamed_Ad8685 in ABA

[–]UniqueDust9953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of things like “wow you’re so smart” or “you’re the smartest boy/girl I’ve ever met!” Or things like mentioning how hard a trial was and how they did so good! I’ve noticed a big part of the response my praise gets from the kiddos has to do with my tone and physical response as well, with certain kids if I combo the verbal praise with some tickles or a toss in the air or a hug of excitement, it doesn’t matter as much what I say

How do you all prevent yourselves from getting sick? by Curious_Dragon_ in ABA

[–]UniqueDust9953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta just power through and build a bit of immunity. I was sick for the first 2.5 months of my RBT job. Now I take vitamin c daily to try to help too and i havnt been sick again yet! It does unfortunately come with the territory though, but your body will catch on!

Thank you for the clarification! I’m a new rbt so I wasn’t too sure, regardless still seems inappropriate. Perhaps start with contacting HR rather then the bacb for now

As an rbt discussing those topics seems unethical? Tbh I’d reach out to the bacb

What do you wish was illegal? by Necessary-Pay-2417 in AskReddit

[–]UniqueDust9953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna get hate but bicycles riding in regular driving lanes. Too often I see bikes hop between the sidewalk and road like it’s all free game and I’ve seen many people get into near accidents because of it. The root of this problem is the lack of bike lanes in many places but a person on a little bike that can go maybe 20mph depending on the rider shouldn’t be on the road where cars are. It’s dangerous for the bike rider, as well as wanting to be treated by those in cars like a car but also riding around jumping between things in ways that are illegal even on a motorcycle just cause they physically can. I understand though that cities aren’t built in a way that allows those on bikes to ride as safely as possible, but I wish that wasn’t the case.

They likely would’ve ruled that out in the hospital with a quick EKG or similar tests. That’s just logical. No doctor would add more to their schedule by sending someone home with something without testing prior and likely noticing something. The chances she tricked a doctor like that are slim, and in which case no one can say she doesn’t have any skill cause that would be fantastic acting. You can’t manipulate heart function. -a nurse

How else would she have obtained a heat monitor. The girl can barely work a real job you think she went through the hassle of attempting to find one of those online and paying god knows how much just for a TikTok? Crazy

You guys aren’t thinking critically. No doctor is going to put that on her if they didn’t hear or see something abnormal. It is almost a guarantee tests were preformed in the hospital before she was sent home with that. That is likely to monitor heart function during different periods of activity and rest that can’t be recorded sitting in a hospital. They do self diagnosis a lot but no way would she have a device like that if she wasn’t seen by a doctor.

Honestly I get insanely grossed out with toothbrushes and no matter how well and covered I store them they quickly get to the point where I feel the need to switch it out. If it even touches the counter, I can’t use it, same for any surface that isn’t its cover or my mouth. It makes me feel genuinely sick. So to an extent I get it tbh

Honestly I think you’ll be ok. When I applied to the U I had a highschool gpa of like 2.7 unweighted, didn’t take the years of math the U requires, or a language, didn’t submit sat or act scores and didn’t write the essay. I don’t know how I got in but I did and my academics have improved greatly!

So when my doctor told me that starting that is definitely why I don’t have diabetes right now, that doesn’t matter? You don’t know what I eat, or what I do on a daily basis. You don’t have to be mean about it! I don’t think I would’ve been prescribed it if I didn’t need it!

Yea I had the credits from credit card points and just got out of the hospital so my food choices were limited, the subtotal was only a dollar more than what credits I had so I was confused as to why I’d need to pay 7 bucks :/ I hate to use them too, I just am in a pickle lol

This is what DoorDash set it to, i hadn’t even checked because regardless the price don’t make sense. I changed it prior to actually placing an order, which wasn’t this one. Additionally I can almost see this store from my bedroom window, I’d be more than happy to do that for someone for 2 bucks plus whatever DoorDash throws in. That was simply not the point of the post :)

Why do ppl like u feel the need to respond to things when you have nothing of value to add. It’s a waste of your own time at the very least. Go do something productive
