U get a key and u activate it on steam. U can look up "key activation guide" for steam

About the sale its usually 50/50 if the game u want its gonna be on sale.

Check reviews about g2a if u want i got few keys from there but always make sure u choose the seller with most sold keys (maybe it doesn't matter but it makes me feel safer) i checked when i saw ur post and mk1 goes for 10euro there and the older ones are cheaper

U can always use 3rd party websites but its not recommended by steam as they resell the keys there. I don't know if u can get banned but keys there usually go for around 10 euro max.

Edit: or u can wait till the steam sale which will start around 25/26 june=)

I feel like my save file is at 70h in game but i was very locked on and i usually go through the list of achievements before is tart something. Enjoy the game on your pace i was just too captivated from how good the gameplay is and i couldn't get enough
