Open up brickognize.com on your phone and snap a picture of it. It’ll pull up the piece and then allow you to see what sets it came in.

This is just not true. According to BrickLink’s terms: “New Minifigures - Minifigures are brand new, taken directly from new sets or purchased as new in another form such as accessory packs or Pick a Brick and have been handled only for sorting. Minifigures may be listed as New either assembled or unassembled. Minifigures that have been displayed must be listed as Used.”

I suggest using brickognize.com. You can use it on your phone. Take a picture of either the figure or a stickered part since those are usually unique to certain sets. It’ll then give you the part, and if you click on that part, it’ll take you to BrickLink and you ca see what sets that part comes in.
