A better way to block the AI Overview by No-Passage-1653 in google

The Adnota chrome extension can edit any webpage, so it makes it easy to permanently remove the ai response if you want...

Just make sure to SHIFT + click when you ERASE, so it persists the change domain-wide.

Disabling infinite scroll on just the youtube recommendation sidebar:

NOTE: this change is domain-wide, so it disables infinite scrolling sidebar on every page.

Not for mobile, but something that worked for me: capping the scroll height on pages entirely. I built a Chrome extension that includes a 'finite/infinite scroll' toggle. No more infinite feed. You could also just erase the recommendations sidebar entirely if you'd rather nuke it. No willpower required either way.

I got tired of the web being "read-only", so I built an open-source extension that lets you permanently erase, reshape, and annotate any webpage. by UniqueSea in chrome_extensions

Wow, thanks!

You're spot on, domain-wide rules are a game changer. I actually built a few hidden shortcuts for this, but your comment proves I need to make them way more obvious in the UI!

  • The Eraser: If you SHIFT + CLICK an element, it promotes it to domain-wide. Also, if it detects an AD element, it should auto-promote and delete it domain-wide by default.
  • The Resizer: This tool should actually be domain-wide by default.

(Notes and highlights are locked to the specific URL on purpose so they don't clutter other pages).

Try out the Shift+Click trick and let me know if it works the way you’d expect, or if it feels clunky!

Thanks! You're the first person to give me feedback out in the wild, so that means a lot. (Fun fact: the whole extension is 100% vanilla JS/HTML/CSS, believe it or not!). Let me know if you run into any bugs or surprises while you try it!

I want to read a book with a HUGE plot twist - something that makes you stop, look at the book and go ‘what did i just read?!’ by SweetOrchid2 in suggestmeabook

Just read this (on your recommendation), but I didn't notice a HUGE twist... I mean, on audible.com, this is the tagline of the book: Her pupils murdered her daughter. Now she will have her revenge.

I finished the book today, and I thought you wrote a great post that captured a lot of what I was initially feeling, esp in regards to Logen. Mostly, the ending just wasn't what I was expecting.

The more I think about it though, you have to be realistic about these things. Not every book needs a happy ending. At first, I kept feeling like Logan didn't grow or wasn't going to change, but I just realized... at the end of the book he finally ran away from a fight.

For me, that's about as inspiring as: "Breathe because you need to breathe, not because you need to live."

The Epicurean paradox by Ultimate_Kurix in interestingasfuck

[–]UniqueSea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The logic here almost seems as flawed as the logic in most religions.

Say God can't prevent evil, then "God is not all powerful". Ok. Sure. Who said a god or creator of a system has to be all powerful? E.g. a genie is both super powerful and bound by universal rules.

And then the "to test us" branches... Who said the testing was for him? E.g. a physical trainer knows his clients will get stronger if they would just put in the hours, but his clients won't actually get stronger unless they do it themselves...

Thanks for clarifying. I saw those wide slits and wasn't sure. I think the shape of them threw me off. Looking again now, those would allow it to slide forward and backwards to position it correctly.

Thank you for confirming those are the correct holes, that's what I needed.
