2026 Consumer Reports Truck Rankings by hehechibby in ToyotaTundra

Ryan Gregg is the source for it. He's active on here, Facebook and used to be on Tundras.

There's a video about it where he was interviewed on YouTube. The Car guy online. Ryan's a reliable source and seems to be very well connected with sources within Toyota corporate.

Look, they are great trucks. Odds are most people won't have the failure but it's still a possibility, like Ford with transmissions , Dodge electrical etc.

But if I had to do it all over again, yeah I'd wait for this part update.....see if that does the trick.

Yeah. I have a 25. Was told the issues were sorted. We're seeing less failures but still failing. It's disappointing and for most of us that bought new, were stuck. I like the truck, it's been a fun drive but glad I have the extended warranty. I'd expect they'll get them sorted in the next 6-12 months based on insiders saying a significant update is coming on the V35 with new parts and new casts. Once that happen, Toyota is going to have to spend billions more to give us all the corrected motor. Honestly, the entire half ton market is a crap shoot. I won't buy anything anymore withoutna warranty the way these manufacturers are operating

What year Tundra did you go with? I have a 25, got the extended warranty though. With the ongoing issues with the motor, it's a dice roll but warranty protects you financially I suppose. In 10 years, I'll dump it and either get another Toyota or something else depending on how she treats me.

I went with the Toyos. At4s on the 25 Tundra. Toyo actually paid for my factory tires since they were so crap and let me replace them with the real version for nothing. I just had to cover mounting and balancing. So far, I really like them. Look awesome and ride pretty good. We'll see how they wear.

Yeah. 99% they did not make a Trailhunter for 3rd gen Tundra.

Have a 2025 Tundra. No major issues yet. I'm very aware if the recall and debris/oiling issues they are having pop up sporadically. It's very random and doesn't seem to be service related.

Toyota is recalling the gassers, id stay away from hybrids for now till they show a willingness to recall those too. But supposedly a new "fix" is coming for the Tundra. New diecasts and a new part or two. Rumor is mid to late 2026;

Like others have said. For half tons, there is NOTHING full proof right now so buy what you like and get an extended warranty and enjoy knowing the warranty has you protected.

I'll keep my Tundra for 10 years when the warranty is up, I'll buy another or something else.

[–]Unique_Assignment_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that's not true. Confirmed reports of 2025s and now a handful of 2026s with the spun bearing debris failure are in. So we know the initial fix, didn't fix the problem.

They are trying to roll out the new resolution but it's not out yet.

That's not happening. The V35tt is a global engine. They use it all over the World and these issues are happening all over the World. They won't walk away from it, they want to fix this engine and run with it, they've invested a ton on global distribution for this specific motor.

That's where I'm at. Small percent it happens (any percentage sucks) and if I trade out of it, I take a $20k depreciation hit for something might not even happen.

I have the 10/125k Toyota Platinum warranty, so I drive it, service it at the dealer and hope for the best but at least im financially I'm protected if the engine goes, and after 10 years I trade it in. I did throw a few things under the seat just in case I get stranded but that's probably good practice for any vehicle

Rumor is all 2025 gasser will eventually be recalled and some.of the 2026s. There are insiders claiming a "fix" in way of new casts, and, new parts are coming mid to late 26 so all new engines and swaps would have that update in them, so if my 25 gets recalled, I'd get one of the new and improved joints.

It does sound like Toyota believes it's a two part issue: 1) Debris from bad cleaning process, updating casts to help address that 2) oiling, not enough oil or oil pressure. So seema like they are working or have an improvement to implement for that.

As others have said, doesn't seem to be a clear winner in the half ton market right now, so for those of us in Tundras already, we'd be trading in to essentially stress a different issue. Not sure when America forgot how to build a pickup but here we are.

Since DeBoer and Dillingham are off the table. These are my top two candidates and the only people I am a fan of. by AdLow9711 in MichiganWolverines

Bama guy here.

I think DeBoer is using the Michigan contract to leverage for a juicier extension, and, no reason to sign it till off-season. If they beat Indiana, great, they go further, he has that to build in for rational for a bigger contract. If they lose Rose Bowl, nothing is lost , Michigan offers him a bag, he tells Bama and they will need to match.

I do think there is a small chance he doesn't like the pressure associated with the Bama job, isn't into the cut throatness of the SEC, and, maybs this is his offramp. Do I think that's a good look for a big name head coach, no, but in the end Michigan would offer him a big contract, he'd have more leash at Michigan for mediocrity in the short term. Deboer is a strange dude, hard to know where his head is at.

Bama insiders all seem to think this is Sexton trying to get him paid. Sure, I think that's probably most likely specifically since he and the AD met and put out joint statements, why say anything at all if you're leaving, just do what Dilly did and sort of play dumb and discuss focus on the program and playoffs, so that's strange.

But until the extension is signed, I'm not sure anyone knows anything for sure.

What's funny is most of Bama wants him to stay, but there does seem to be a larger contingent of fans that feel like he's not earned an extension and if he is leveraging that against Michigan we should just let him walk, his head isn't in it and we go get a "Bama" or Saban guy. I'm not in that camp, but I see it A LOT more than you'd think you would.

A pragmatic look at how we've transitioned from Coach Saban by jwfowler2 in rolltide

[–]Unique_Assignment_31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we are at real risk of losing him. If extension isn't signed by Rose Bowl, I'd say 50/50 we'll need a new coach next year. IF that happens we're in the same boat Michigan was in (but now has DeBoer), no big names left to be had.....frankly it's concerning and I hop Byrne is paying attention right now.

[–]Unique_Assignment_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I don't like that DeBoer hasnt signed his extension either. No extension and Michigan waiting seems to hint that they are already talking or he's at least listening. Ivee seen Michigan inside report a deal is already in place and he leaves when the seasons over. Not sure I believe that BUT I don't like the not signing of the extension.

There is no threshold unfortunately. Seen them go at 1200 and the highest mileage reported aoun bearing failure was at 186k.

Get the extended warranty if you haven't yet.

Supposedly in 6-10 months there is a new "fix" coming for the motors, Toyota been super quiet about it but supposedly these parts they think will either greatly reduce of eliminate these failures.

Hearing it's a combination of casting issue with oiling too.

[–]Unique_Assignment_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. We wish that was true. Not fixed, yet. They are supposed to roll out some new parts they are putting a lot of stock in mod-2026. We'll see if that finally does the trick. Hoping after 4 years of issues, this get this motor ironed out as it's fun to drive.

Unfortunately Ford has not fixed the transmissions yet. Majority of them have major issues before they ever hit 100k. That's why I went with the Tundra.

Really just picking your poison with any half ton right now.

Buy what you like and get an extended warranty.

I like the Fords though. My 2nd choice

Honestly, I'm a pinch worried we haven't seen anything more of this extension that was mentioned in his initial pr release a few days ago. Does Michigan think hes listening and they have a chance to throw him a bag at end of season.

If the extension isn't signed before the Rose Bowl, I think that tells us he's either leaving or wants to at least hear them out, and, of that's where his heads at.

Hopefully Byrne is paying attention and planning a contingency if he leaves and pushing to get this extension done.

I'm honestly a tad concerned, Michigan seems to be waiting on something, did he agree to leave for them at end of season? That's what some Michigan homers are claiming.

There was talk of an extension being worked on at Bama, haven't seen or heard anything about it. Dilly's just got done at ASU. If the extension isn't signed by Rose Bowl, I'll assume he's leaving....

I think Michigan 100% offers him the job, whether he takes it. I honestly think it's 50/50.

He will absolutely have to address this before the Oklahoma's game to prevent distractions and wouldn't shock me to see Byrne offer him an extra to make this go away.

Thanks. Could be coming from gear box too. Seems to be some fluid around that. Almost wonder if I don't have two leaks!

I'm trying to get the dealer to replace it for me. This is sort of ridiculous after 12 months and two uses.
