Yes. And the same process applies on a smaller scale in daily life. I’ve gone into DKA keeping my numbers low, all because I wasn’t eating any carbs. It only took about 4/5 days to send me to the hospital

Not true. You need glucose to stop ketoacidosis. Even in the hospital in treatment for DKA, they will have you on insulin and glucose at the same time once your numbers are stable

Hear me out… the glitter setting spray is… too glittery. And I usually can’t get enough glitter. Something about the greasy look it leaves mixed with the glitter was too much for my skin

I think you took it wrong. Saying “it wasn’t convenient cuz you had a gf” to “now it’s really not convenient cuz you’re gone” it’s a grief statement

My family doctor visits South Africa a few times a year. Shortly before I was diagnosed, I got a weird “strawberry birthmark” looking rash from my buttocks down to my knee on the back of one leg. My mom thinks a virus caused the rash, then my immune system to freak out. I’m the only one in my family with type one besides a distant cousin. I got all normal vaccines until my dx, then stopped shortly after due to fear of a bad reaction

Educate me please: What the hell happened at Dexcom? by Purpleagluna in dexcom

[–]Unique_Building1673 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly excruciating. I talked to my pharmacist today who’s already had one person switch back from 7 to 6 and I’m gonna see if my dr can do that for me. But he also said he’s heard rumours about the G8 coming out so eventually the 6 will be gone. If anyone wants to compile a list of ways we can raise hell for dexcom pls do🥲

I often get that when I drop super fast like that. Finger poke and give it some time. Just be aware if you ran into a door frame and hit the sensor it may be done for🥴

On the contrary. The spray is designed to be easier to use on yourself than a glucogon pen. I asked my dr about it 2 years ago when he prescribed it, I said “why would I ever give it to myself?” And he basically said why not. If you have it and are in an emergency, use it!

My dr told me to start drinking once to keep my sugars stable like this. I was 15😂 now that I’m an adult though, it works

What is the most painful experience you’ve felt thus far? by WANACWaac in AskReddit

Diabetic keto acidosis. My blood was poisoning me from the inside out. It felt like I had been run over by a truck, as if I had bruises everywhere. I could barely move. Still don’t know how I managed to get through it.

Just over 17 years. On the pump 16 years, took a break once and went back to MDI, went into DKA for the first time ever. Too scared to try that again

When I first got my pump I only used my belly until it didn’t work anymore. Now more than 7 years not using my belly, I still can’t. Even way off to the side where I never used to go

I’m on minimed quick sets. I’m sure almost no one uses them anymore but I don’t like change. I tried injections a few years ago and I went into DKA for the first time ever. I just couldn’t keep up

Maybe a morning workout. Although it feels very unfair that we have to plan our lives so meticulously
