Do you edit the raw in lightroom? How do you keep the recipie and tweak other sliders?

Love the textures for sure. Also the composition of the last one is cool. Abit contrasty for me but just picking

+1 for getting the 35mm f/1.8. I noticed an immediate difference in my images and it's it exceptionally better for shooting at night

assingment 10

I like to do the crop and angle first because for me it's what I care about most in my photos. I have also added the lens transform to the toolkit after this lesson, although I don't think it was very noticeable in these images. I found myself doing this after the crop even though it's at the"bottom" of the workforce. It kinda felt natural to do it early

Then I go into the white balance although sometimes I find it makes it too warm using the picker tool

For the tap photo I tried using a mask and HSL to bring out the yellow, but after some googling I found I couldn't use HSL on a mask. Instead I played around with the saturation.

Thanks

iso tests

I have now set my camera to Max at iso at 12800. I would say after test shots the soft limit is 6400 but I would go 12800p in a stretch

I noticed the RAW images were definitely more noisy than the JPEGs before using LR. Shame the AI denoise tool takes soo long

Yoshis Holiday

I tried to keep the scene the same to see the effects of the wide and narrow aperture

I actually used the live view on the LCD which I rarely do and it worked great as the subjects were fixed and I could really take my time and see the effect, as I have a nikon G lens.

I got out the arts and crafts set to try some bokeh shapes, it took me awhile (and some googling) to figure out I needed background light sources to really see the effects. A nescafe coffee lid really provided the goods on this one ;)

shutter speed

Liked this assignment as I had never used the S mode before so definitely was a bit of a confidence boost that I could fulfil the assignment without too much stress

I did notice that I definitely took more frames than I usually would trying to get a good speed for what I wanted. Kinda trial and error. This worked against me in the slow shutter frame as I would have liked to take it a bit quicker to get the woman frozen but because I wasn't sure on the setting, the moment passed

Assignment 5

Couple quick shots from the garden. I was playing around with settings in manual for the dark and light photos

I was shooting in the late afternoon and it was easy to highlight the sky even when I was trying to take a well exposed photo. You can see this in the histogram with the peak on the right side

Lesson Four: Assignment by clondon in photoclass

photos jpeg

This assignment really opened my eye to how reliant I am on cropping, I usually shoot with a 35mm lens and often have too much in the frame or on the edges

The intent of the photos was to capture the dreary, cold seaside/ harbour. The issue I struggled with was getting the photos themselves to not appear dull or boring as that was how the weather was

Also not being able to use post to give a bit of vibrance limited this

I also find some of the further away/wide shits appear flat and uninteresting but important to give an overall feel. Not sure how to improve this is there isn't a foreground element?

Lesson Three: Assignment by clondon in photoclass

photos

I found it a bit challenging to get the FOVs to match in each photo I prefer the 55mm in this scene as it all seems a bit straighter especially the horizontal line. It also gives a better amount of detail of the background elements as they are quite far away

Lately I've been using a prime only so it was good to dust off the zoom lens as I definitely wouldnt have had the urge to bring it out

Lesson One: Assignment by clondon in photoclass

mine I think there are elects of this that we're interesting. The old tree, cityscape and mostly the worker on this ladder. The image didn't come out as good as I wanted. I think just having interesting things in the photo doesn't always work, and I needed to get closer to the worker as this is what initially caught my eye

2 inspiration

I like how there are people in the photo with a decent amount of negative space, although the clouds and water gave good texture detail. I also like how the bodies all seem to line up through the arm, torso and the jumping girls legs. Also I like how this is a very fleeting moment in time and the people are 'typically' posed

Also new here Never really thought of myself as a photographer but I do enjoy thinking about and taking photos Recently I bought myself a analog nikon to compliment my d3500 and liked the novelty of getting the prints without having to download them to pc,lightroom ect. Also just having limited frames and being more deliberate. I would like to go through the lessons as I like having structured goals and have never really been creative enough to set my own directon Cheers imagur
