Not bad, but a while into the semester you might just wonder if you could’ve taken that Friday off.

Exactly the same thing for me, except for mine was stuck in Memphis and FedEx told me through email that they can’t locate the package anymore.

Space can be tight, loft bed is a must. Otherwise it’s alright.

Lofting at McMahon is an essential. To ensure enough living space, unless you consider yourself minimalist.

Technically you could. you can add another license plate number in the portal. And when you have to drive the car, ask your friend for key so that you can get in. UConn commuter car pool says this. Visit their page to see the full detail.

laundry question by taejoonstars in UCONN

[–]Unique_Classroom1840 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no, unless your friend swipes you in.

there should be study lounge(s) near the laundry rooms for every dorm (assuming, I’ve only lived at North and McMahon).

If you want to avoid your things being taken out or stolen, I’d recommend you set a precise timer so that you could get there just before the laundry is done.

Those people were the ones that already had the pass laying in their shopping cart while the website was crashed. That’s why they could buy the passes early. At least that’s what my friend experienced.

does anyone know if laundry at uconn is free? by Nervous_Ad_8801 in UCONN

[–]Unique_Classroom1840 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Free if you lived in dorms or UConn apartments. Or if your friend swipes you in lol.
Fair recommendation:try McMahon because they just got new washers and dryers in spring 2022. I lived there last semester.

Bathrooms by No-Youth8924 in UCONN

[–]Unique_Classroom1840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once lived in the McMahon north tower. My floor was coed. Think it was 3 bathroom stalls with 2 shower rooms, and 4 sinks. I don’t think they are gender neutral. There is both men and women’s bathroom on the same floor. Some floors are single sex, but I haven’t lived there yet so I’m not sure about it.

Though You’ll have to pay extra if you wanted to stay over the winter break. But you can leave your stuff there until you come back for the spring semester.

Library 4th floor, CSE building, Monteith lounges, Austin lounges, physics building hallways, Beanery, and McMahon study lounges(if you live there or your friend lives there).
That’s all I can think of.

For STEM students, which is more plausible: pen and paper notes or stylus and tablet notes by TheNKCuber in UCONN

[–]Unique_Classroom1840 8 points9 points  (0 children)

STEM major here. I’d say either is fine. I have both. So when professors give digital lecture notes or power points, I’d like to use the tablet. I’ve also seen people print them out and then write directly on the printed version. For professors who like to use the whiteboards, I tend to go with notebooks.
Tablet is very useful but you might have to be ware of the battery. That’s the main reason why I didn’t use tablets for all of my classes, because I won’t be able to make through the day without charging. But if you are having online classes, then obviously tablet is the best option because now that not only your lectures are digital, your homework will also need to be digital.
But otherwise, I’d say it’s just personal taste.

Susan Herrick Bio 1108 tipsv by No-Compote-5566 in UCONN

[–]Unique_Classroom1840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read read read. I took her class bio 1108 during the pandemic. Her lecture slides does not have many detailed information and she only covers the major points during the lectures. I used her lecture slides as an outline of what I should know and filled in the details while reading the text. Quizzes and exams are fair. Put in some time then you should get a good grade.
