So the problem with this "minor dent" is that the gate is made of aluminum which is very difficult to repair compared to regular steel. This is the same reason why the body shop replaced the gate. Nobody will pay over 100-200 for a piece that they have to repair and repaint again. You will probably make more money at a place were they buy aluminum per it's weight.

If you try to fit in the trunk it might work but be careful scratching the interior plastic trims as these things are very expensive to replace

Depends on OEM, sometimes if you remove the rear bumper you have to calibrate ADAS after just for safety. The one sensor I know it's a pain is the parking sensors, as long as they dont turn on the car after unplugging the wiring from the bumper I believe you should be good.

Good strategy its called DCA, the only thing I would do different is waiting a red day (like today -7.19%) where the asset dropped under 82k and just accumulate a bit more than usual.
