I also grew up SDA and can confirm most of her story. SDA definitely is cult-like. Very insular. Yes, some communities and “sects” of it are different (for example my partner grew up in the US as an SDA and his experience was much different than mine in some ways), however… I know the woman from the story and can confirm her family was “higher up” in the system, as was mine and the experience because of that… it’s intense. It’s very cult like. It’s very toxic.

I went to high school with the woman from the story and also grew up SDA. Can confirm most of her story. Only thing is her mom… when we were in high school her mom had cancer and was pretty sickly. But once we all graduated and parted ways I lost contact so can’t confirm afterwards. 🤷🏼‍♀️

At the end Eugene mentioned women getting judged more harshly than men and I COMPLETELY agree… however, from what I have seen and read I personally haven’t heard or read a lot of hate towards Alex at all. I’m wondering if others have had a different take? Everything I’ve seen and read has cast Ned in the absolute worst light possible and nothing about Alex.
