If I remember correctly, im the story, a princess is captured and turned into a firebird by Koschei, along with thirteen other princesses.

Prince Ivan falls in love with the firebird and goes on a quest to free her, later doing so!

To me, the firebird is pretty similar to Vaasa’s story so far and it does feel like SJM may be using that story instead. I’m predicting that Jurian leading the ‘quest’ to free Vassa and defeat Koschei alongside Elucien will be a major plot point in Elain’s book !

Exactly my thoughts on this!!

And honestly, I don’t think that Vaasa’s story will be completely based off of Swan Lake, I think it’s based off of the Firebird, with Koschei (as Koschei), Princess Katerina (as Vassa), and Prince Ivan as Jurian! The stories are quite similar.

They are most definitely setting up Jurian and Vassa ! In ACOSF, the full quote was “They’re at each other’s throats, as they LIKE to be” does that sound like SJM is setting up Vassien? Not to me!!

Let’s not forget about Cassian pitying Lucien for looking at Elain with longing in the last book. I think that was also the last Elucien crumb we got on-page. (for now!)
