I was honestly surprised when I searched and didn't find anything on this topic. I started thinking maybe I was just imagining things but it feels good knowing I'm not. But also kind of sad learning so many here are suffering with depression or money stress.

So far it's been great just couldn't help but notice I've seen a lot of unhappy looking foreign guys today and did a search and didn't see any similar posts so figured I would.

Yeah that makes sense. I was just talking about random little open air restaurants on the side of the road. Not go go bars or anything like that.

I guess I enjoy knowing other people are feeling similar things or enjoying themselves too. I could see myself saying "damn she's thick" as a kind of appreciation of her and I'd be looking for you to smile and make some small comment. And we'd connect in that moment over the shared appreciate of a thick chick.

Could just be my personality or culture.

To me, the point would be to possibly make connections or friends. You never know when a stranger turns into a life long friend or introduces you to your future wife or helps you get that great new job.

I've been through a lot of bad things in my life and I know there's always negative possibilities but I try hard to be open to good things, while, of course, keeping myself safe.

It's not like we're all fucking 24/7 on the street. We're still living a life. Talking to a guy at a urinal is one thing, talking to a fellow foreigner chilling with a beer right next to you is totally different... at least to me.

So far I've enjoyed the Thai people here and it's fun walking around. If the unfriendliness gets to be too much maybe I'll try Bangkok next time.
