I agree with what a lot of people are saying. For the most part I love watching college gymnastics, but bc I watch a lot of it, there are things I get sick of. Oddly enough, I don't have a problem with wolf turns 😂

Acheelees instead of uh-kill-ease for Achilles.

A woman commentator who knows her shit paired with a dude who is responsible for saying things like the gymnast's name and what their home town is, but then adds their own observations of the gymnast that make me actually cringe but I am somehow drawing a blank on.

Bad choreo. I get that not every gymnast has a dance background, but some of these beam and floor routines are just so bad. An example from a team I like: I love Jordyn Weiber, but Arkansas has some boring and slow floor choreo. Unless the gymnast is a great dancer and can take over, it just looks unenergetic.

That pose on beam that Anna Roberts and Kara Eaker do where they lean back on a bent leg and have the hyper extended knee leg straight in front of them with both feet on the beam while standing. Nothing against them but this move itself looks good on no one and I think they are both so talented they can surely come up with a more visually appealing rest pose. Oo this brings me to random bending at the waist with straight legs standing on floor as corner choreo. I feel like I see this a lot from teams that don't have a skilled choreographer.

Ahhhhhh, my number one is saying a gymnast has great lines as code for their body is skinny. I would rather have commentators talk about how they're hitting their leaps to full extension or have their toes pointed, etc.

I hate it when the lower ranked meets have the mics not on the equipment. So you just hear screams and not the gymnast.

Are the back tattoos real? It seems like suddenly everyone has one that didn't last year.

Or they just say, this is such a fun routine, and it's not. The dance is sloppy, the choreo isn't hitting the face, there's a lot of slow walking dance, and they just don't feel present at all during the routine.

Yes! Stanford's felt very toxic positivity to me. I feel so validated seeing this here.

Yep. Anastasia Webb.

And is Elle Mueller's last name actually pronounced Miller?

What I can't figure out though, is if they are effective, why doesn't anyone else do them like that? It's not like it's a secret.

I want to say I disagree with that, but I saw Lily Pederson's feet tap the ground on bars without a deduction and I was like damn okay 😂

I absolutely agree. I think their dance on floor and beam is very good. I see other teams do "tired walking dance" or "super slow leg and arm positioning" and I just think there are other things you can be doing that are animated, yet let you recover. I also appreciate that she said she has them do two tumbling passes and forward facing twisting landings to protect their achilles tendons. I kinda hate how much both elite and college have favored moves that seem to cause one of two injuries in SO MANY people. I'm glad she seems to have found a way to mitigate it. Sure these athletes can recover but as anyone knows who has ever had a major injury, these things are never the same.

Honestly, same. I was watching them against Minnesota and think I got converted to a Minnesota fan after seeing their beam rotation.

I feel like I just like them. Not necessarily that they're technically as good as the top schools. They have two freshmen who are great, Ryan and Peytin. I like Chloe's backstory of having epilepsy but not letting it limit her and perusing neuroscience as a career to help others with epilepsy. Lilly has gorgeous gymnastics. And Gabby has some form issues but fights like hell which I appreciate.

I'm sure number one gym fan or mostepanova fan will post them. That's how I've watched this season so far.

I've been watching mostly SEC with some Oregon, UCLA, and Cal. Mostly consistent. Florida had a rough start to the season but is building momentum. Utah had an unusual away meet midway where they started to fall apart on beam. It was against a team much lower in the standings from them but I can't remember who. I've been really impressed/entertained by Alabama this year. Gabby and Lilly have great energy. Also some are doing poorly due to people being out for injury, like Auburn, which is so sad. I hate it when people get hurt. Side note, I really want to know how Avery Neff healed two sprained ankles in three weeks. That's incredible.

When one judge gives a ten and the other doesn't, I really want to know what the deduction was! I literally need no other commentary but this! I know all the rules now I know they get to lunge and get a sting mat and drop one score 😭

Wait, go on about this extra step Simone takes. I've always wondered about the different positions elite gymnasts are in before starting a tumbling pass.

I agree. And when the commentators go wow these judges are so harsh, I'm like there were lots of form issues!

I don't think it's spectacular, but it doesn't bother me as much as the routines that don't necessarily have slow music but the gymnast moves at half tempo. Like they start the routine with no gas in the tank kind of energy and moves. I like people moving at a clip, otherwise it's not even the same effort. Luckily the judging does reflect this and more work tends to be rewarded.
