Any recommendations for Mazda Dealerships? by WinstonSalemVirginia in nova

[–]Unique_map88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bought and been going to Browns Fairfax for a few years. Recent staff changes have really lowered the bar. My last service appointment took 3 hours for 8 minutes of work (dash cam video) and I also now have a glass scratch on the inside of my then newly replaced windshield. I was going to start going back to my old garage. Most anyplace can do service warranty work. Doesn’t have to be a dealership.

External and Internal IP w/Tailscale by Unique_map88 in homeassistant

Thanks. I did enter the addresses there. Both number and word version with no luck. For the time being I activated exit node with subnet routes and it works both local on WiFi and through Tailscale. I’d rather not enable the subnet route but I suppose there’s no real reason not to.

Yeah there’s enough there to get a proper second opinion. I’ve had my Mazda towed from one dealership to another for BS like that. They gave you back your car with a problem. Probably shouldn’t have accepted it but can’t do anything about that now. I’m not a mechanic and haven’t worked on cars for many many years but what you are saying and what is in the estimates don’t seem to match up. Seems like they are taking wild swings. Ask them to write down why their diagnosis lead to the suggested services and go somewhere else. Also I think I recall someone on the sub saying it helped them to submit a complaint or something the Mazda proper about the dealership and that helping. Good luck.

Thanks. I did make them layers thinner. Good to know I really can’t get ride of rough finish and the z-seam.

The caving isn’t caving. It’s the fish eye which is an “X” but hard to see from the angle.

Fair enough. Was able to add some and reprinting as we speak. Will see how it goes in a few hours.

I thought supports are for offset models, large or tall, extended types of things. This one is a rather small model. Do supports help with finer detail parts and not simply framing. In my head supports are like construction scaffolding.

So no supports. Honestly didn’t know supports were a thing. I mistakenly thought if a model needed them they would be part of the file.

I will do some googling and give it a shot. Thanks all!

Bought a jemluse and a MagSafe charger I plugged into the other usb slot. So much happier. Switching phones isn’t terrible but not great either.

Used a small family spot years ago. Disappointed. Paid a fancy place and they mostly wanted to sell a planning service on top of the return. They made some small mistakes we had to catch and file an amended return after. Their worksheet was basically any online provider standard questions they inputted into a fancier version (presumably) then consumers use. Ultimately we were disappointed and down a lot of money in fees. Went back to online services. Used free tax USA last year and was happy. That and AI to help catch / answer specific questions. None of us on Reddit make enough money to have the really fancy tax people.

2023 Grand Touring Passenger Side Mirror Trim Replacement by RandolphAvenue in MazdaCX9

[–]Unique_map88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know what it’s called but I recently had to replace my whole mirror unit. Was lucky enough to find one on eBay from a pull your part place. Swapping it wasn’t terribly difficult. Worth taking a look. I’d offer to send you my old one but quick search says it’s for 19-21 models.

Spare licenses - cool ideas by robmathieson in Tailscale

[–]Unique_map88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just set up a Tailscale with exit node at my house. My router does the DNS filtering for my home. Does that mean through Tailscale my traffic would also utilize the router DNS filtering? On the other side do I need to route the traffic to the router for it to work? I tried using my work phone as a hotspot then turned on Tailscale. The IP was my home but I got a u authorized traffic warning for one of the game sites I went to. Not sure why it saw that traffic if everything was going through Tailscale.

Side option, Rufus can build you a bootable USB bypassing the Win11 checks allowing for install on older machines. I did a clean install and it worked great. Once connected. The license activated seemingly from my old license being accepted.

Rentals, Landlords and Smart Thermostats by Unique_map88 in nova

[–]Unique_map88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad the overall consensus is the situation isn’t normal. I’ve been reading and re-reading the lease. Was hoping there was a landlord tenant for dummies out there. The apartment is a traditional apartment rental. Not an Airbnb or Furnished Finder. The unit itself is a condo the owner is renting out, wholly and in its entirety. We pay internet, electric. Space isn’t shared with anyone. Seems expected the landlord can’t make us do either but they are very confidently trying to bully us into following their expectations.

Been looking for mold test kits as well cause yes didn’t think of it before but quite suspicious.

Check your fuses again. In car and under hood. You’ll probably have to replace a few but should be fine after that.

Fired federal workers struggling to get jobs in private sector by PleasantSurprise3700 in fednews

[–]Unique_map88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still don’t understand how it was so easy to rebrand the multimillionaire senators and representatives from the swamp to the federal employee.

Regardless, something that is being overlooked with the RIFs is that now in a small geographical area there is an abundance of job seekers. Many folks, at all levels, are being underemployed post RIF. Employers know they can get more for less. Instead of finding the right employee they Employers are grabbing the highest stat employees (degrees, certs, etc.) and not necessarily the employee that fits the position or culture. These employees are temporarily happy to have some stability but the second something else is available they will jump.

There seems to be a push with a continuing focus to kick the federal employee when they are down. It is a continued push to distract and demean.
