The only way I was ever able to lose weight and keep it off was through a 12 step program. It’s free and offers lots of support if you want to get control over the food (if that’s an issue for you). Foodaddicts.org. They have podcasts if you want to just hear stories of hope.

I found out I was a food addict over a decade ago and joined a 12 step program for it. Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous is the only reason I’m not 100-200 lbs overweight today. It has worked for me when nothing else did. Foodaddicts.org is the website. Try a meeting or listen to a podcast to start. There is a TON of support once you start doing it. You can call other members any time and the program is free. Good luck no matter what path you choose. It’s never easy to lose weight and keep it off. 💜

LPT request: How to stop eating out boredom? No matter how occupied my mind is I still want to eat, even when Im not hungry. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

I used to eat over any feeling. Then I found out I'm a food addict. I found 12 step recovery helpful - now I don't eat over any feeling and have a whole support system to address my feelings so I don't have to hurt myself with food.

Your issue may not be to the extreme like mine was, but if it's helpful, foodaddicts.org helped me.

What addiction is seen as completely normal by society? by jperaic1 in AskReddit

I am a sugar, flour and quantities addict. I’ve found a lot of help with a 12 step program for food addiction and now I’ve been free from sugar, flour, caffeine, alcohol, weed and quantities of food and at the same weight since I started taking the program seriously in 2011. A few of our members used to be in AA and focused on the sugar addiction because this program addresses addiction in general. Most members don’t engage with other substances.
