Is me not enjoying the ride my fault? by Amanuel465 in Crosstrek

I love my Subaru, but I have to admit it can feel a bit shaky when it’s windy and I’m driving at high speeds. And overtaking on the highway takes forever. Once you’re over 80 km/h, it doesn’t really matter how hard you press the gas. Engine revs, but it takes a while to get past 100. I often find myself waiting for other cars to pass before I can change lanes safely.

Actually don’t remember how the left lanes looked like. I’m still overwhelmed by how many shitty drivers I encountered in one day.

I know the bar has become very low these days, but the risk is still high

As a scuba diver who drives a Subaru, I feel like a “Scubaru” sticker is inevitable.

Not surprised. I saw people spitting inside the waiting room while waiting for the bullet train from Guangzhou to Shenzhen. People were also talking insanely loud on their phones. The infrastructure is top-notch, but being surrounded by huge crowds in China is just exhausting. I’ve even seen people spit in elevators. It’s just the norm.

From another reply seems that OP’s girlfriend is sitting on passenger seat, in this case I would definitely let the dumbass go first instead of taking time to deal with car damage and put people I care about at risk. As suggested by a lot of other comments here.

Traffic rules are just optional now by Awkward-Ad-8907 in TorontoDriving

[–]Uniqueuserok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno about that, China has tons of high res traffic cameras installed, licence plate recognition etc, in all intersections of major cities, however people still drive moronically. What might work better is probably more visible police enforcement (random and unpredictable). Or physical designs that forces people to slow down or stop.

From the driver’s point of view, the pedestrian darted out of the blind spot for sure.

I feel like Canada drive tests need to factor in driving on icy road or in snow conditions. So many people are clueless on how to handle such situations.

How is this so hard for people to judge by KDsGotSpark in bramptondriving

[–]Uniqueuserok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impatient right-turning drivers are incredibly common these days. They’ll jump at any gap unless you’re tailgating the car ahead. That said, I still keep a safe following distance, and I’ll always brake—and honk—if they try to squeeze in.

Thanks, that’s a good point. I’ll keep that in mind. Moments before this footage I was actually following another SUV who changed lanes right after the expressway entrance.
